SPiCE Awareness Month: Diabetes
Our SPiCE program highlights a different awareness theme each month. These themes are chosen with care, focusing on areas that have directly touched the lives of our students and staff. Teachers use the monthly presentations to guide age-appropriate conversations with students, helping them grow in empathy, understanding, and appreciation of one another’s unique gifts.
For October, our focus is Diabetes Awareness. Click the link below to learn more about diabetes, and see what students will be learning about in class this month.
We thank you for your continued support of the SPiCE mission as we work together to build a school community rooted in faith, acceptance, and love.

Your Annual Fund Dollars are Already at Work!
The new school year is off to a wonderful start and your Annual Fund dollars have been busy making it happen!
The Annual Fund is a once-a-year contribution that supports the many programs and activities organized by the Saint Brigid of Kildare Home & School Association. This includes after-school programs, school performances, field trips, and special events that enrich our children’s educational experience.
Because Home & School is funded entirely by your Annual Fund contributions, 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to projects and activities that benefit our students. And thanks to your generosity, families are never asked to sell items door-to-door—no wrapping paper, candy, or flower sales needed!
Since August, the Home & School Association has hosted several wonderful welcome events including:
- Parent Admin Day Welcome Back Celebration during Meet the Teacher
- New Family Breakfast
- Tears & Cheers Social/Breakfast
These are just a few examples of the many events and experiences made possible by your Annual Fund contributions throughout the year. Thank you to all who have already supported this important program. If you haven’t yet made your contribution, please consider donating today—every gift makes a difference!

Did You Know? Our School Lost & Found is Next to the Gym
It’s the time of year when students begin wearing outerwear . . . and leaving it everywhere. Here’s how you can help keep those items where they should be—with your child!
Label your investment:
- Label all outwear and layering pieces with your child’s name (e.g, Erin Heise or E. HEISE). Initials only are too time-consuming for others to decode. Avery non-iron tags are an inexpensive and easy to use.
- If you’ve obtained an item from the Uniform Exchange and it already has a label, re-label it so the item isn’t “returned” to the original owner when lost.
- Label water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. Many look the same!
When an Item Becomes Lost:
- Ask your child to visit the lost and found during his/her lunchtime if (s)he is missing an item.
- Parents are welcome to pop in to check for items during the school day.
- Items of value (cash, phones, etc.) will be taken to the office receptionist for safekeeping.

Fall Harvest Parties
Our room parents are currently working with teachers to plan a Fall Festival party on Thursday, October 30th. Our Annual Fund will support the treats and games for this annual classroom party.
More details will be coming home in Friday Folder emails from homeroom teachers.
Students are invited to wear costumes on this day if they wish. Alternatively, students may choose a fall color dress-down day or wear sweatshirts or t-shirts representing their favorite athletic team’s colors or logos.
Fall Festival Costume Guidelines:
- Keep costumes simple, easy to wear all day, and appropriate for the weather.
- Face masks that cover the entire face or head (e.g., Spiderman, clown, skeleton) are not allowed.
- Inflatable costumes are not permitted.
- Limit accessories (such as wings, crowns, wands) that might be difficult to manage at school or easily lost or broken. Violent props such as pistols, knives, or swords are not allowed.
- Costumes should not include scary or bloody masks/clothes.
- Costumes should not obstruct the student’s view or ability to work in the classroom.
- Costumes must not be inappropriately revealing (e.g., shorts, mini skirts, bare midriffs, or low-cut tops).
- Costumes must not be offensive or make political statements.
- Please no makeup.
Please check your child’s costume or dress-down day outfit to ensure it follows these guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation!
