Third grade coloring the Our Father prayer | |
The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,
This week, we had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary by praying the rosary together with all of the schools in the Diocese. Please see the story below for more details.
Additionally, we are excited to introduce our new Safety Coordinator, Mr. Aaron Quinn, to our staff, students, and parents. We are very blessed to have Mr. Quinn joining our team to continue the fine program of safety and security developed by Mr. McKenna. Plan to stop and meet Mr. Quinn tonight or tomorrow evening at our Student-Led Conferences. In the meantime, please make sure you read the introduction of Mr. Quinn in the article below.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for two special dress days for students. The first opportunity is next Friday, October 18th, when all students are invited to wear orange to help raise awareness of ADD and ADHD. All of our students will have the opportunity to view a slideshow this month to become more informed on the topic of ADD and ADHD.
Our room parents are currently working with teachers to plan a Fall Festival party on Thursday, October 31st. Our Annual Fund will support the treats and games for this annual classroom party. As a second opportunity for a fun dress-down day, students are invited to wear costumes on this day if they wish. Alternatively, students may choose a fall color dress-down day or wear sweatshirts or t-shirts representing their favorite athletic team’s colors or logos.
Fall Festival Costume Guidelines:
- Keep costumes simple, easy to wear all day, and appropriate for the weather.
- Face masks that cover the entire face or head (e.g., Spiderman, clown, skeleton) are not allowed.
- Inflatable costumes are not permitted.
- Limit accessories (such as wings, crowns, wands) that might be difficult to manage at school or easily lost or broken. Violent props such as pistols, knives, or swords are not allowed.
- Costumes should not include scary or bloody masks/clothes.
- Costumes should not obstruct the student’s view or ability to work in the classroom.
- Costumes must not be inappropriately revealing (e.g., shorts, mini skirts, bare midriffs, or low-cut tops).
- Costumes must not be offensive or make political statements.
- Please no makeup.
Please check your child’s costume or dress-down day outfit to ensure it follows these guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation!
I look forward to seeing you at our conference evenings.
Autumn blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

Thank You Annual Fund Donors!
The Annual Fund is a once-a-year contribution that covers the costs of after school programs, school performances, field trips, and activities organized by the Saint Brigid of Kildare Home & School Association. Home & School is funded entirely by contributions made to the Annual Fund.
With your Annual Fund contribution, 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to school projects and activities that enrich the learning experience for our children. Because of this, we will never ask you or your children to sell items door to door (such as flowers, candy, wrapping paper) to raise money for our school.
Home and School has hosted several welcome events since August, including:
• Parent Admin Day Welcome Back Celebration during Meet the Teacher
• The New Family Breakfast
• Tears & Cheers Social/Breakfast
These are just a few of the many events that are funded by the Annual Fund during the school year. Thank you to everyone who supports this important program. Please consider a donation.

SBAA Winter Sports Registration Deadline Oct 20
**see updates on Cheer information below in red
St Brigid Athletic Association is happy to announce Winter Sports Registration is now open here.
Please note strict deadlines for registration, there will be no extension of registration dates - so please register as soon as possible.
The registration fee for basketball this year includes a $50 refundable volunteer fee. If/once you sign up and volunteer, you will receive the $50 back at the end of the season. There will be sign up genius with ample volunteer opportunities and of course all coaching positions qualify as volunteering. This was necessary as parent volunteering has been an issue in many of our sports. In addition, the winter sports registration has a hard deadline of Oct. 20. Historically we've had over 10% of sign ups after the deadline which makes team formation very difficult.
Basketball
Grades: 4th - 8th - Boys & Girls
Lil Hounds - 2nd & 3rd Boys & Girls
Commissioner: Bill Baumel - Boys, Mike McTighe - Girls
Fees: $240 - 4th - 8th, $85 - Lil Hounds
Cheer
Grades: 4th - 8th - Girls Commissioner: Lindsey Meadows
Fee: $25 if no uniform needed; $160 if uniform needed
Ski Club
Commissioner: Jessie Hoffman
Fees: $120 Transporation + Additional Fees (Lift tickets, lessons, rentals)
If you have any questions about a specific sport, please reach out to each respective commissioner/contact. If you have any problems with registrations, please reach out to Brian Frantz for any registration problems.

Interested in Becoming Catholic? OCIA Sign Up
"Hello! My name is Pamela. I attended the OCIA program at Saint Brigid. Our class was one of the largest and I was honored to be a part of it. I met many wonderful people and learned what it means to be Catholic. It is a way of life, love and charity in the name of Jesus. I've always loved Jesus although I didn't feel like I knew him. I was raised Methodist. I raised three Catholic children and saw their faith. I went through the program with my teenage grandson. My relationship with Jesus is now very personal. I'm thankful I walked into my grandson's room that day and asked him if he still wanted to become Catholic. He said 'yes' and I said 'me too'." — Pamela (OCIA class of 2024)
If you are interested in becoming Catholic, or just learning more about the process, visit our OCIA (formerly known as RCIA) webpage and complete an inquiry form at www.stbrigidofkildare.org/ocia
