WOLFHOUND WEDNESDAY
September 29, 2021
We had so much fun celebrating our 2021 National Blue Ribbon award last week! See our recap of our celebrations and why our students think we are a Blue Ribbon School in the video at this link.
The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

Today we celebrate that we have made it to mid quarter and it is time for interim reports. Since FACTS is still in development regarding forms, we are not able to send formal interim reports at this time. However, our teachers are sending weekly Friday emails with regular information about assessed work. During this “Interim Reporting Week,” teachers in K - 8 will send emails, request a conference call, or make a phone call to any parent of a student with an academic, social, emotional, or behavioral concern. Also, in the spirit of partnership, parents are welcome to contact teachers at any time if you have a question or concern regarding your child’s academic, social, emotional, or spiritual development.

Please note we have added the following COVID information to our "Safe Together" webpage:

When Children Can Return to Physical Activity After Testing Positive

Accepting Test Results
St. Brigid has the Abbott BinaxNow at home antigen test with results confirmed through a live proctor. PCR tests are acquired through a healthcare provider, or at a test site, and are the most accurate. In order to return after a close contact quarantine, a student must have a negative PCR, or BinaxNow at home test with official proctored results. Self-tests (without a proctor) are accepted to rule out COVID if a child is experiencing symptoms only if parents have the child’s name and date of the test on the results, and a clear picture sent in.

Please see additional details on interpreting results and multiple test results.

It was announced this morning by the Vatican that Bishop Brennan has been named the new Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Please see this attached memo from COO Matt Schlater with more information about Bishop Brennan’s appointment.

Blessings,
Kathy O’Reilly

Project-Based Learning: Share Your Personal Work Story
Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. This is a concept we are using in grades K-8 throughout the school year.

As a part of this Innovation Initiative, we are looking to have our parents and guardians offer a window into real life application of learning! To that end, we would like to offer opportunities for our students to see how skills and themes learned in school are applied in daily life. (Example: If you are a web designer, you could talk about your expertise in our Technology class, or if you work in landscaping you could speak during a plant/life design unit in Science.)

Our students can benefit from your willingness to share your real world experiences! If you are willing to share your career expertise with our students at some point this year, please fill out the survey below. Grandparents and family members are welcome to complete this survey as well!
Flu Vaccines Available for Students and Staff
We are happy to be able to offer Flu Vaccines at school again this year!

Partnering with Health Heroes of Ohio the vaccine will be available to students grades K-8 as well as school staff on October 14.

If you are interested, please read the Vaccine Information Statement as well as print and complete the Vaccine Consent Form to register your student for the vaccine. Completed Vaccine Consent Forms must be returned to school by October 12 to allow for adequate staff planning by Health Heroes.

Questions can be forwarded to Peggy Iannarino at [email protected]

Parents must send the printout of their online confirmation to picture day to ensure their background color choice. Gray is the default background color if we do not have the printout, or the student is not purchasing a package. If you do not wish to order online, please contact the school office for an envelope.

School Picture Day Clothing Tips
We want your child to look their best on school picture day so here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind.
  • Avoid “new” hairstyles for picture day. Pony tails, while practical for school days are not the best in school pictures because the pony tail is usually hidden. Headbands can also become a distraction - so please choose wisely.
  • Please make sure your school uniform is neatly pressed. Boys and girls collars should be pressed down and the tops of girls' uniforms should be pressed, especially around the patch. If your child wears a school sweater, vest or fleece pullover and you want them to wear it in the picture - PLEASE make sure they are aware of that.
Last Day to Wear Uniform Shorts
This Friday, October 1, is the last day for students to wear the uniform shorts. Please remember there are no PE uniform shorts anymore.
Schoolbelles is Moving
As families continue to make the majority of uniform purchases online, Schoolbelles will be closing the local store for the off season and re-open again next June. They will be extending a 15% discount and FREE shipping on orders placed while the store is closed. In addition, they will also continue to offer on-site School Measuring Events when requested.

View the flyer below for more details.

Family First Service Opportunity
New service opportunity for the family!

We would love you and your family to join us in providing comfort (in the form of snacks) to families staying at the Ronald McDonald house. You can find detailed information here from the Ronald McDonald house website on how to safely assemble the bags. The snack pack program allows volunteers to prepare bags in their own setting while providing snacks for families caring for sick children

This is a great activity for the family and while you assemble discuss how acts of service and being Catholic go hand-in-hand! From the Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12), to the Works of Mercy, to the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) we know Jesus urges us to provide service to others.

Once bags are assembled please drop them in the bin in the collection closet in Hendricks hall October 2nd - October 10th. We will also be collecting assembled bags at the Parish picnic, on October 10th! Any questions contact [email protected] or [email protected]
