New Furniture in 5th - 8th Grade Classrooms

Our final pieces of furniture were installed this week! This year, we got new classroom furniture for all of our 5th - 8th grade classrooms. The new furniture is not only bright and cheery, but allows for flexible movement for small group work, independent work or full class instruction. Designed to be easily moved and reconfigured, students are able to adapt the space to however they work most comfortably. Some of our stackable chairs even allow for balance and stability movement while sitting so our students can keep their bodies moving while keeping their brains engaged.

The furniture was funded by a grant as well as a generous donation from St. Brigid of Kildare parishioners Mr. and Mrs. Frauenburg.

The Safe School Helpline

This year St. Brigid will be adding yet another layer of protection for our students, families and community: The Safe School Helpline.  We are constantly encouraging students to speak with an adult -- be that a parent, teacher, counselor, family member, etc.  However, there may be an occasion that a student would prefer a different way to communicate their concerns anonymously.  The Safe School Helpline will give students the ability to make a report either by phone, email or an app.  For students under the age of 13 they must have parental permission in order to make a report.  Reports may be made by anyone -- students, parents, or community members, and all reports remain anonymous.

Flyers will be distributed to families in the next Friday folder.  Over the next few weeks the help line will be introduced to students as well.  To learn more about the Safe School Helpline, including the number to make a report, information will always be listed at stbrigidofkildare.com/current-families.

Thank You Annual Fund!

Teachers and Staff were welcomed back by the Home and School Committee thanks to the Annual Fund!

On Friday September 2, The Home and School Committee hosted the first staff lunch with a picnic theme. Enke Hall was transformed with a focus on bringing back that feeling of community and the year's theme Together As One. City Barbecue provided the catering and was a perfect fit for the theme.

This is just one of the many events that are funded by the Annual Fund to thank our teachers, staff and administration for their devotion to our children. Thank you to everyone who supports this important program.

School Picture Day Clothing Tips

We want your child to look their best on school picture day so here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind.

  • Avoid “new” hairstyles for picture day. Pony tails, while practical for school days are not the best in school pictures because the pony tail is usually hidden. Headbands can also become a distraction - so please choose wisely.
  • Please make sure your school uniform is neatly pressed. Boys and girls collars should be pressed down and the tops of girls' uniforms should be pressed, especially around the patch. If your child wears a school sweater, vest or fleece pullover and you want them to wear it in the picture - PLEASE make sure they are aware of that.
