The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

Student Led Conferences (SLC)  will be held on October 3rd (Grades 3/4 and 5/6) and on October 4th (Grades K-2 and 7/8).  Below are the links to sign up for a conference for your child.  Please sign up for one slot, and sign up with the homeroom teacher.

As I stated a few weeks ago at Curriculum Night, our teachers and staff are committed to building a strong relationship between home and school.  Our children greatly benefit from our partnership of being able to share relevant information with each other. Equally important to this relationship is the student taking ownership for his or her learning by reflecting on progress and collaboratively setting goals with their teacher and family members. I highly encourage you to schedule a time for you and your child to come to school to participate in this opportunity three times each school year.

Differing from the traditional parent-teacher conference, the SLC conference recognizes students as a leader in their education supported by teachers and family.  In addition to our SLC,  teachers in K - 8 will send emails, request a conference, or make a phone call to any parent of a student with an academic, social, emotional, or behavioral concern.  Also, in the spirit of partnership, parents are welcome to contact teachers at any time if you have a question or concern regarding your child’s academic, social, emotional, or spiritual development.

Tonight at 6:30 pm in Enke Hall we will host our first of three Crucial Conversations for the school year.  The topic this evening is Safety in our Environment.  St. Brigid of Kildare Campus Safety and Security Director Bruce McKenna will talk with parents about our school building’s new enhanced safety plan using funds from our safety grant. He will also discuss our procedures for practicing our safety drills.  Please RSVP for this evening’s session.

The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly our varsity team's participation in the 18-hole Columbus Diocese Championship at Mentel Memorial. Facing stiff competition from five other schools, the St. Brigid Wolfhounds emerged victorious, claiming the coveted 1st Place title! Our top scorers for this remarkable victory were:

**Individual Awards:**

Not only did our team triumph collectively, but we also shone as individuals, bringing home a remarkable haul of awards, more than any other school participating in the championship. Here are our standout performers:

- Zoe Black, claimed 3rd Place for the Girls

- Kathryn Durant secured an impressive 2nd Place for the Girls

- Henry Jutte, clinched an outstanding 2nd Place for the Boys

We couldn't be more proud of our Wolfhounds Golf team for their dedication, sportsmanship, and outstanding performances throughout the season. This weekend's achievements are a testament to your hard work and passion for the sport.

Cross Country Team Week Updates

On Wednesday, Sept 20 the St. Brigid cross country teams competed in a Diocesan meet at St. Agatha. The girls 7th-8th grade team and the girls 4th-6th grade team both finished in first place. The 4th-6th grade boys team finished in 2nd place and the 7th-8th grade boys team finished in 4th place. Great results for all of of our teams!

On Saturday Sept 23 the 7th-8th grade teams competed in the Celtic Clash at Dublin Jerome High School. The girls finished in 5th place, their highest finish ever at the Celtic Clash, amid a very strong field of teams and the boys finished in 11th place. We also had two individuals from our girls team earn medals for their top 15 placement. Alyn Luis finished in 11th place and Campbell Retzke finished in 13th place.

This week all teams will compete in two meets. First up is at Westerville North High School on Thursday in a Diocesan meet hosted by St. Paul and then on Sunday, St. Brigid will be the host parish for the final regular season Diocesan meet. It will take place at Concord Township Park with the first race at 5:00 pm. The park is less than 15 minutes from St. Brigid and is just a few miles north of Shawnee Hills. We would love to see lots of spectators there to cheer on our Wolfhound runners!
