Dear Parents,
Student Led Conferences (SLC) will be held on October 4th (Grades 3/4 and 7/8) and on October 5th (Grades K-2 and 5/6). Below are the links to sign up for a conference for your child. Please sign up for one slot, and sign up with the homeroom teacher.

As I stated a few weeks ago as we prepared for Curriculum Night, our teachers and staff are committed to building a strong relationship between home and school. Our children greatly benefit from our partnership of being able to share relevant information with each other. Equally important to this relationship is the student taking ownership for his or her learning by reflecting on progress and collaboratively setting goals with their teacher and family members. I highly encourage you to schedule a time for you and your child to come to school to participate in this opportunity three times each school year.
Just a reminder that students will not be sharing STAR results until we have two points of data. Having two points of data, over a period of time, allows the scores to make more sense, to be put into context on the new scale, and to illustrate potential growth from test one to test two. Best practice stresses that the STAR assessments are not meant to be viewed at only one point in time, but rather over a period of time. Our second “testing window” of the school year will be in January, and we will then be able to report student scores in context.
Differing from the traditional parent-teacher conference, the SLC conference recognizes students as a leader in their education supported by teachers and family. In addition to our SLC, teachers in K - 8 will send emails, request a conference, or make a phone call to any parent of a student with an academic, social, emotional, or behavioral concern. Also, in the spirit of partnership, parents are welcome to contact teachers at any time if you have a question or concern regarding your child’s academic, social, emotional, or spiritual development.
This weekend we turn the calendar to October which is the month of the rosary. We will be praying the rosary as a whole school community on Friday, October 7th, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. You are welcome to join us for the prayer service in the gym at 2:00 pm. I would like to offer this website with some resources to assist you in praying the rosary in your homes. Rosary Resources

Family First Family Service Activity |
Snack Bags for Ronald McDonald House
Family First invites you and your family to join us in providing comfort (in the form of snacks) to families staying at the Ronald McDonald house. You can find detailed information here from the Ronald McDonald house website on how to safely assemble the bags.
This is a great activity for the family and while you assemble discuss how acts of service and being Catholic go hand-in-hand! From the Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12), to the Works of Mercy, to the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) we know Jesus urges us to provide service to others.
Once bags are assembled please drop them in the bin in the collection closet in Hendricks Hall October 1st - October 9th. Any questions, please contact Anna Blouir at ablouir@gmail.com or Sue Adorno at westbrsc@yahoo.com.

Children's Liturgy of the Word |
Children's Liturgy of the Word takes place during the 9 am Mass. Children (non-communed children, preschool through grade 2), may join us in the Church basement to hear the Children's Liturgy of the Word from the Children's Lectionary as well as learn about the readings of the day. Children will be dismissed prior to the First Reading and return after the Homily, during the Presentation of the Gifts.
We require two Shepherds and two volunteers to provide this opportunity for our families. The First Shepherd is the leader of the readings and lesson for the day and the Second Shepherd assists the First. Volunteers help the Shepherds with miscellaneous tasks, but do not teach the lessons. All volunteers (Shepherds and general volunteers) are required to be compliant volunteers in accordance of Safe Environment Policies. Those who sign up will have follow-up communications with the Safe Environment Coordinator as well as the Director of Religious Education.
If you have questions regarding this ministry, please contact the Religious Education Office at 614-761-1176.
