Serving our parish community at our school Mass | |
Dear Parents,
Curriculum Nights are back! This week our school will be providing a first hand opportunity to work together as ONE serving God, our school, and our community. By building a strong relationship between home and school, both our children and our school community will greatly benefit. According to the American Federation of Teachers:
“Good two-way communication between families and schools is necessary for
your student’s success. Research shows that the more parents and teachers share relevant information with each other about a student, the better equipped both will be
to help that student achieve academically.”
This evening will be an opportunity for parents to pray together, and to learn more about the curriculum, general expectations and daily routines of your child’s classroom. Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high expectations.
(Due to the nature of this business type meeting, we are asking for parents and/or guardians only to be in attendance.)
Please look for an email this week describing our School Annual Fund. Thank you to those who have already contributed to the 2022-23 School Annual Fund. This is our primary source of income for our Home & School, and it is the reason our school does not participate in any fundraisers. Please read the email to learn more about the fund.
Planning ahead ….There will be a couple of “special dress” events. On Thursday, September 15th, we will be celebrating International Dot Day! Students will be invited, if they wish, to wear a favorite pair of polka dotted socks to help celebrate the day! On Friday, September 23rd, students will have a spirit wear dress down day. Students will be encouraged to wear St. Brigid, Watterson or St. Charles colors or spirit wear. That Friday evening will be a big football match between Watterson and St. Charles!
September blessings,
Kathy O’Reilly

School Picture Day Clothing Tips
We want your child to look their best on school picture day so here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind.
- Avoid “new” hairstyles for picture day. Pony tails, while practical for school days are not the best in school pictures because the pony tail is usually hidden. Headbands can also become a distraction - so please choose wisely.
- Please make sure your school uniform is neatly pressed. Boys and girls collars should be pressed down and the tops of girls' uniforms should be pressed, especially around the patch. If your child wears a school sweater, vest or fleece pullover and you want them to wear it in the picture - PLEASE make sure they are aware of that.

We are excited to invite recess volunteers back this year and we need your help! The recess schedule has changed back to the regular schedule and we would like to see all of the slots filled in effort to give the teachers some time back in their day. There are two sign-up links as in years past:
- The Kindergarten Recess Volunteer sign-up link (one time slot per day, one volunteer needed)
- 1st-6th grade recess sign-ups (broken into two time slots per day, two volunteers per time slot)
These sign up links can be found below and also in the Quick Links at the top of the Wolfhound Wednesday each week.
All volunteers must be PGC (Protecting God’s Children) certified and have completed the St. Brigid Volunteer Application. We appreciate the support anyone is able to provide this year!
