Screenagers Community Viewing
Attention NC Community: You are invited to come take part in viewing part one of a three part documentary series- Screenagers! We will have free pizza and popcorn for all who attend, and we will also be giving away some NC swag! We are very excited to have the opportunity to be the first school in Spokane to host this event! It will be held at North Central High School on November 6th from 5:30-7:00, and we would love to have anyone in the NC Feeder Pattern Community in attendance! This is a great opportunity for parents of children of any age, but especially those of children entering the adolescent years!
SCREENAGERS is the first feature documentary to explore the impact of screen technology on kids and offer parents and families proven solutions that work. What started out as a personal story for one has grown into a national movement, helping millions of teens and their families navigate growing up in a world with instant access to screens.
We will also have information about our Groovy Shoes theme and how to pre-order a shirt for the game this year!

College & Career Brief:
Interested in Nursing? Do you know the difference between receiving a Nursing degree from a community college (such as SCC) oppose to a 4-year college?
At a 4-year college, students would graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Students take the traditional 2 years of general education requirements, then junior and senior year would be within the nursing program. A 4-year nursing degree (BSN) does offer greater career advancement opportunities.
At SCC, students graduate as Licensed Registered Nurses (RN). Students need to complete 45 credits (approximately 1 year) of their general education prerequisites before they can gain admittance into the 2-year nursing program, so all told SCC nursing students are typically at SCC for 3 years. The nursing program at SCC is an AA-DTA (Direct Transfer Agreement), so it’s set up to where students can enter the workforce after becoming an RN or transfer to a 4-year college. If they chose to transfer to a 4-year college after receiving their RN, it should take one additional year and allow a student to graduate with the AA and a BSN within the traditional 4 years.

10th Grade Honors English Highlights
Over the past quarter, the 10th-grade Honors students have engaged in multiple discourse-based activities. They have participated in Mock Trial, with prosecution, defense, and a full jury! Students have also engaged in “Silent Conversations” where they must use their writing skills to answer questions and respond to peer thinking. In the past week, they have also done a “World Café,” where collaboration is key to helping newcomers to their poster understand the question and thinking behind answers. Ms. Shannon is incredibly proud of how hard her students have worked this quarter to develop their speaking and listening skills.

Greetings everyone!
The Western Regional Counterdrug Training Center (WRCTC) will be hosting four more FREE courses.
Course Description: This course serves to prepare the learner for encounters with fentanyl, and individuals who have suffered an overdose. Learners will learn what fentanyl is, how it is encountered, where it comes from, binders of concern, and first aid. These objectives are achieved by providing information on how fentanyl is created, what modalities of transmission, hazards, and first aid via naloxone administration. While the curriculum is primarily intended for members of the counterdrug nexus and community-based organizations, personnel in any organization that can/may encounter fentanyl and overdose victims would find this information beneficial.
