March 2023
Message From Our President
It's a new month and I have SO much to share with you all!
There has been plenty of exciting things happening at DBCR, and
Below are a few highlights --

100% of the Class of 2023 has been accepted to college! Wow!
Collectively, they have been accepted to 800+ schools with over $7 million in scholarships (and counting!).
Two seniors, Diana and Kiara, were finalists for PG County Poet Laureate!
The Youth Poet Laureate Program is a joint program with Urban Word NYC and Words, Beats & Life, with support from local government and partner organizations.
As finalists, Kiara and Diana are already considered ambassadors for this program representing their area (Maryland). They are already being offered PAID opportunities through these prominent programs to continue to share their writing! This is HUGE!! I am so proud of you both!

Final news!!
Admissions saw a record number of applicants, 287! We held our first-ever Accepted Students' Night to celebrate, and it was a huge hit! I cannot wait for the Class of 2027 to join us.
Our students are crushing it!
Just this week, we found out Caldwell and Company offered their student worker Christian a part-time job during tax "busy" season and through the summer! He is very excited to have his first part-time job and earn his own money!
Evolent Health's student worker Briza was also hired for a summer job. She is the first female intern to work in the finance department! Wow!

I am beyond proud of how far our students have come this school year. Let's finish strong!!

Alumni Highlight
Neyda Reyes
DBCR '18
Marymount University '22
Greeting Wolfpack, my name is Neyda Reyes, and I graduated from DBCR in 2018! When I first walked into DBCR, I thought it was a privilege to be there, and I was right! I gained so much experience here and am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Wolfpack!

While at Don Bosco, I interned at Reed Smith LLP. My experience at Reed Smith taught me time management and interpersonal skills that set me aside from other candidates after college. It also allowed me to understand what it is like to be in the workforce.

As a student, I was incredibly involved; I was the Captain of the Latin Dance Club, the Secretary of Youth Ministry, a member of the Drama Club, and a Student Ambassador.

I attended Marymount University, where I graduated Cum Laude as a first-generation Latina with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a double minor in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice.

I currently work in PG County Public Schools as a Registered Behavior Technician and an at-home-based therapist. I am in the process of getting my final decision letters for graduate school, as I want to continue my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling! Fingers crossed!!

Corporate Work Study Highlight
Our 2nd Supervisor Round Table was a success!

Pelotty (Class of 2024) gave a bird’s eye view of his experience working at Ernst & Young. For the last two years, he has developed a strong rapport with his team, increasing his communication skills and learning how to interact with different personalities in a professional environment, which has helped him support his father’s business. Pelotty wants to study Architectural Engineering in college, and working at EY has helped him visualize how spaces are utilized--a critical skill in this field!

We were lucky to have three other students, Juana, Yeimi, and Analyse, join us with their supervisors. They gave wonderful insight as to how they have grown since their freshman year.

Thank you to the supervisors who attended! And thank you to ALL our supervisors for being the teachers in the field.

We look forward to seeing more of you at our Supervisor Appreciation Event in May.

Companies in attendance:
Park Hotels & Resorts, EY, Mary’s Center, Coakley & Williams Construction, Aireon, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Marriott International, SOAR (Supporting Our Aging Religious).
Upcoming Events
DBCR’s annual Career Day is just around the corner!
