Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

Chaplain's Corner
I hope that you have all had a great weekend and are looking forward to a fantastic week ahead! Here’s a glimpse back at what took place in chapel this past Wednesday. During our middle and high school chapel service, as Mr. Akin (teaches 10th and 11th Grade Bible) guided us through the crucifixion of Jesus as recorded in Mark 15…specifically keying in on 4 main questions:

1. “Why didn’t Jesus save Himself?”

2. “Why did God the Father forsake Jesus on the cross?”

3. “Why was the veil in the Temple torn?”

4. “Why did the Roman centurion accept who Jesus was, but the chief priests and religious leaders did not understand who Jesus was?”

As you are in your homes, eating around the table, or in the car together, consider discussing the following questions with your students to help open up the opportunity to have spiritual-minded conversations with your middle/high school student(s)…

  • “To the religious leaders of His day, Jesus did not fit into the mold of who they thought the Messiah would/should be. How do we sometimes try to make Jesus into our version of what we think He should be? Why is this wrong/dangerous?”

  • “When Jesus said, ‘My God, My God! Why have You forsaken Me?’ what does that show you about the effects of sin? What does that tell you about the seriousness of sin?”

  • “What does it mean that we have full access to God?”

  • “Why is true that we have to spend time looking at the cross (instead of the opinions of others around us) to really start to understand Jesus?”
