Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2

Chaplain's Corner
PACS Families,

We hope you’ve had a great weekend! Here’s a glimpse back at what took place in Chapel this past Wednesday:

Scott Carson, from Watkinsville First Baptist Church, spoke to our students about the importance of “running the race set before you.” By combining Scripture (Hebrews 12:1; Philippians 4:13; II Timothy 4:9) and weaving his own story of running in a marathon, Pastor Carson challenged our Lower School students to finish their race.

Consider the following questions to help open up spiritual conversations with your Lower School student(s):

  • “When the Bible talks about us running a race, what is it talking about?”

  • “How can we run the race that God has for us?”

Throughout this entire school year, we have been walking through the Book of Mark. This past week in Chapel, we concluded this journey by examining the Resurrection of Jesus Christ (Mark 16).

Consider the following questions to help open up spiritual conversations with your middle/high school student(s):

  • “Why is it important to know that Christianity is not a system of beliefs, but, at its core, is all about a Person (Jesus Christ) and an event (the Resurrection)?”

  • “How does living in view of eternity make a difference in the way that we live life?”

Kindergarten through 5th grades will participate in two very important standardized tests this week: the Terra Nova National Norm-referenced Achievement and the InView Aptitude tests.

Testing sessions by grades are:

Kindergarten- Monday through Thursday
First Grade- Monday through Friday
Second Grade- Monday through Friday
Third Grade- Monday through Thursday
Fourth Grade- Monday through Friday
Fifth Grade- Monday through (next) Monday

  • Please ensure that students get plenty of sleep each night and a healthy breakfast each morning.

  • Students will be testing in the mornings and resuming normal schedule afterwards.

  • Students are urged to try to avoid any absences during this important activity and to be on time every day during testing. There is a limited time frame to make up tests, so it is very important that students be present and on time each day.
