"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,
and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the end of the earth."

Acts 1:8

PACS Families,

For me, one of my greatest joys is watching students transition from believing that God wants to use them to actually experiencing God using them…this transition rarely, if ever, happens in a classroom setting but rather always happens when we actually step out and step up to serve someone else in the name of Jesus.

One of the many things that makes Prince Avenue Christian School such a special place is our commitment to give our students opportunities to actually put into practice what we pour into them. During the week of March 3-9, our Seniors were serving and ministering not just in an international setting, but also to the people and needs that exist right here in our own backyard. This year, for Missions Week, the Seniors who went on the Senior Mission Trip (43) ministered in San José, Costa Rica while the remaining Seniors (16) ministered at The Atlanta Mission Thrift Store, The Sparrow’s Nest, Living Hope Church, and the F.I.S.H. in Monroe.

As we came to school this past week, we felt that it was important to share with all of our middle and high school students all they were a part of, all they saw God do, and how serving in these various contexts have changed their perspectives on where God currently has and where they feel that He may be leading them in the future.

As you are together at home, in the car, or around the table, consider using the following questions within your family to help facilitate further discussions within your home about the conversations that began with our student panel in our chapel service…

  • Why do you think that it might seem easier to rely on the Holy Spirit in your life when you are serving God as a missionary in a foreign country?

  • What specific things do you think you would have to rely on the Holy Spirit for in a foreign country? Do you think you would need the Holy Spirit in your life less here at home than in a foreign country? Why or why not?

  • Acts 1:8 says "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." How does Jesus’s promise of the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in your life change the way you look at and get ready for tomorrow?
