Chaplain's Corner
On Tuesday of this past week, we had the amazing privilege of hosting Bob Goff (speaker and author of Love Does ). The following are several statements that he made to our students in that Chapel service that we hope will continue to permeate the PACS culture:

  • [In the context of why so many Christians continue to be argumentative] “Jesus doesn’t need a lawyer…He’s looking for humble men and women that love Him.” [it should be noted that Bob Goff is a practicing attorney!]

  • “The only thing that matters is your faith expressed in love.”

  • “Your faith is the sum of everything you’re holding on to and everything that you’re willing to let go of.”

  • Jesus never had problems with people who were confused…Jesus had problems with people who were faking it.”

A MASSIVE “thank-you” goes out to Kim Brannon and Lynne Bottoms for their incredible work in getting Bob Goff to our school!!!

This week also marked the end of our “GREATER THAN” Retreats. Over the last several weeks, we have had the opportunity to spend some individual and intentional time encouraging, challenging, and pouring into each of our middle and high school grades.

The overarching theme of these retreats have been: “Living a life of worship that aims to glorify God is what you and I were created for, and is therefore, greater than any other pursuit.” Our uniting Scriptural passage throughout these retreats has been: “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2).

Through the various breakout sessions and “Chapel-like” sessions, we can definitely sense God stirring a spiritual movement in the lives of our students! It should be stated that these “GREATER THAN” Retreats were/are not isolated unto themselves…but rather, they are a piece of a greater whole. I am so excited about continuing the conversations, relationships, and momentum that have come out of these retreats!

A HUGE “thank-you” goes out to all of our middle and high school teachers that either chaperoned on these retreats and/or covered extra classes to enable our students and other faculty members to serve on these retreats!!!

We hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving Break!

The Christmas Shoe Project
to benefit Kids First
November 13 - December 1
Kids First is the outreach ministry founded by Larry and Anna Boling in 2003 to minister to the under-privileged children in and around Athens. PACS families can choose to participate in providing shoes to needy children in the following ways:
  • Shoe information for each participating Kids First child will be written on Christmas ornaments displayed on a lighted Christmas tree in the main hallway of PACS.

  • During the dates of the project, Prince parents may stop by the school and select one or more ornaments from the tree. Parents may also send requests to their child’s teacher to have an ornament from the tree sent home in their child’s Monday folder.

  • Once a family selects an ornament, please stop by the Lower School Office to pick up additional information.
