"Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered
the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said
to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Mark 2:4-5 (NIV)

Chaplain's Corner
This past week in Chapel, we continued our journey through the Book of Mark. Being guided by Mark 2:1-12, we discussed both the picture of a true friend and the picture of our true need.
As you are in your homes, in your cars, and around the table this upcoming week, read the following passage and discuss the following questions:

[READ MARK 2:1-12]

  • “In these verses, what is the obvious priority of these four friends? In what ways did these four friends sacrifice for their paralyzed friend?”

  • “In Chapel, we talked about the principle, ‘As a follower of Jesus Christ, God will always call us to do uncomfortable things’…why is this statement true? Why is this statement important…especially as it applies to our friends?”

  • “To what lengths are you willing to go to see your friends come to know Jesus?”

  • “When Jesus saw the paralyzed man, who was lowered through the roof and was now at His feet, and Jesus’s first words to him were, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’ what does that tell us about this man’s (as well as our own) greatest need?”

  • “What is the greatest miracle in these verses…Jesus forgiving the man of all his sins or Jesus giving this man the ability to walk? Why is that the greater miracle? Which one of these miracles made an eternal difference?”

  • “How can I pray for you?”
“Parable of the Sower” (Mark 4:1-9)
