“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature
was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ,
for He forgave all our sins.”

Colossians 2:13 NLT
September 24, 2017
Chaplain's Corner
This past week during our regularly scheduled Chapel time, we broke out into Discussion Groups (divided along the lines of grade and gender). One of our goals coming into this new year was to expand our Discussion Groups’ conversations into some independent, topical, and relevant subjects that our students are facing. While these subjects are facilitated by a Prince faculty member, they are not necessarily in response to or a follow-up on the previous week’s Chapel speaker or message.

Our continual aim is to showcase to our students that there is absolutely nothing that they will ever go through in life that the Bible does not address. As in all facets of the school, we not only want our students to know what a Biblical worldview is…we want them to explore and adhere to a Biblical worldview in their own lives.

This past Wednesday, we dove into the PACS Student Honor Code. That honor code is: “A student will not lie, cheat, steal, defame others or destroy their personal property, nor will they tolerate those who do.” In these Discussions, we did not want to simply explain why we have a Student Honor Code, but we wanted to go deeper into our very nature.

As you are in your homes, in your cars, and around the table this upcoming week, read the following passages and discuss the following questions:

[“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins.”
Colossians 2:13 NLT]

  • “How does the Bible describe our state of being without Christ?”

  • "Why do you think that it is so important for us to understand that we were spiritually dead without Christ and not just “bad?"

  • "What caused us to be spiritually dead?"

  • “Why did the Father send Jesus to come to into this world?”

  • "For an unbeliever, who is still dead in his/her sin, what are the effects of sin?"

[Sin separates us from being in relationship with a holy God.]

  • "What is the difference between God simply forgetting about our sins vs. God actually forgiving our sins?

  • “What does it mean that ‘He [God] forgave all our sins’?”

  • "For a believer who has been made alive in Christ, what are the effects of our sin?"

[ Sin builds a barrier between us and God that hinders our relationship with God but can never change our identity as a son or daughter of God.]

  • "Understanding that God has already forgiven all of our future sins, why is this not a ‘license’ to do whatever we want to do? Why should we still pursue holiness in our daily lives?"

[READ Romans 13:1-2]

  • “Why do you think Prince Avenue Christian School has the Student Honor Code?”
(Galatians 5:22-23)

Homecoming 2017 ~ October 10th - 13th
Homecoming 2017 is almost here!
This year’s theme is …VERSUS

Wolverines, It’s Game Time…Who’s it Gonna Be?

1. against (used especially to indicate an action brought by one party against another in a court of law, or to denote competing teams or players in a sports contest): Smith versus Jones; Prince versus Hebron ; Army versus Navy.

2. as compared to or as one of two choices; in contrast with: traveling by plane versus traveling by train; being on the WINNING Prince team versus being on the losing Hebron team

Abbreviation: v., vs.
Nerd vs. Jock

Wear your best
mathlete or athlete attire!
Suspenders, letter jackets, pocket protectors, basketball uniform…

It’s Prince Avenue so…
it’s cool to be cool
& cool to be un-cool!
Country vs. Rocker

Be your best country singer
or rock it in your best
Rock & Roll wear!

Anything from cowboy boots & hats to classic bands from the
50’s to the 80’s…

Prince Avenue ~ “we’re a little bit county and a little bit rock & roll!”
Summer vs. Winter

Cold or hot? Headed to balmy Hawaii or the frigid cold weather
of the Alps…

calling all Wolverines to celebrate your favorite season.

Whether your Wolverine is HOT, HOT, HOT or CHILLY & COLD…

celebrate our colors,
Future vs. Past

Let’s take the Wolverines to another Galaxy, far, far away…
who knows who you’ll encounter in space, maybe Zenon, ET, ewoks, planets, stars or even astronauts…

OR…Let’s throw it back to days gone by….beginning of time,
The 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or 80’s ….
you decide the decade.
Our Wolverine future is bright, but we cherish our
Wolverine traditions from days gone by! #minutemen
