WSPS
Dear Wolves,

As we wind down this school year, a lot of my work has already turned to planning the next by hiring and developing a master schedule that places more than 2000 students in seven classes. On Monday, you will receive additional information on how to review and modify your class requests for next year, and additional opportunities around late start, early dismissal and peer tutor.

One elective that continues to thrive at Eastlake is AVID. This year we celebrate our first graduating class of AVID students and are incredibly proud that each of them will be attending college next year.

Our AVID elective serves students whose academic performance does not yet match their potential. Essentially, AVID helps students learn how to learn. It places students in higher level classes and then supports them in becoming more independent, organized, committed and strategic learners.

For more information on AVID, including student testimonials, please visit the AVID page on the Eastlake website.

If your student might be a good fit for this program, please contact Sara Norris (snorris@lwsd,org) by May 7.

Teacher Appreciation Week
Next week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. Our PTSA has helped plan activities to express our gratitude for their heroic efforts this year. Please take a moment next week to thank our amazing Eastlake Staff.

Staff Spotlight
We will reserve a section in the Wolves Weekly Update for these expressions of gratitude. Send a Staff Spotlight to Amy Hill (amhill@lwsd.org) by Thursday at 4 PM, explaining the impact this Eastlake staff member had on your student and it will appear in the next Wolves Weekly Update.

Do you Want to Meet with your Counselor?
For students attending in person learning, you now have the option to make an appointment to meet with your counselor in person. Please go to your counselor’s Bookings link found on the Counselor webpage https://ehs.lwsd.org/counseling. You will have the option to make an in person or Teams meeting appointment. Please note that not all counselors are in person right now and are only available through Teams, so you will want to check the Bookings link to see if this option is available.

If you are wanting to make an appointment during Wolf Time, please be sure to still sign up for a teacher/class in Flexi Sched. Please do not come to the counseling center until you receive a pass. If you have been teacher requested for WT, we will not be pulling you out of class and you will need to select a time before or after school to meet in person or you can request a Teams meeting.

AP Testing Updates
  • Students who filled out AP test survey-updates should now all be reflected in your AP account. Please be sure to login to your College Board account to view your AP test/s dates. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Strange at jstrange@lwsd.org. Please Note: for anyone who requested LATE June testing, your account will show the June dates, right now, NOT the late testing dates yet, as College Board is still working on the late -June testing dates. When the late-June testing dates are available, we will be able to switch it to the later date.
  • AP Refunds: If you decide not to take an AP test and need a refund, refunds will not be issued until June. More information on how to process this will come out mid-May.
  • Beginning Monday, May 3rd, installers will be available for all high school devices!! 🙂 Users will install them from Software Center. If users do not see them in Software Center by Monday morning May 3rd, they should restart their device and check back 15 minutes later.
  • For all students taking an AP digital exam: The installer for College Board Digital AP Exams – v0.9.1 was able to be fully automated. It is therefore a fairly simple process for users to just installing the software from Software Center. We have included a guide for this as an extra precaution, but most users should already know how to install software from Software Center. (See this link: College Board Digital AP Exams Install Guide
  • For students taking the Japanese/Chinese exam: The installer for College Board Digital AP Exams – Japanese/Chinese is more complicated. The attached guide has been drafted with pictures and tips to help ensure users are as successful as possible. (See this link: Japanese Chinese AP Exam Install Guide)
