Dear Wolves,
At Whitney Meissner’s,LWSD Director of Secondary Education, request I’ll be our acting principal while Chris Bede is on leave. This is my 14th year as a high school administrator and my 7th here at Eastlake. Our school is wonderful and your students are the main reason why.
A brief COVID reminder: Please keep students home if they have COVID-related symptoms until they hear from our COVID Case Manager. A few parents are sending messages to ehsattend@lwsd.org saying their student will be a couple hours late because (for example) they are really tired and have a headache. Symptomatic students should remain home until our COVID Case Manager clears them, so a better message would be something like ‘my student woke up with symptoms so please ask the COVID Case Manager to contact us. Depending on the symptoms, your student may need to remain home for at least one day or may need to get tested.

Eastlake's COVID-19 rate continues to drop. Over the past eleven days (since 2/14) we have had three confirmed COVID-19 cases out of our total student and staff population.

Attendance Notes
A couple of important reminders:
- Please do not submit a Skyward Request for your student to be released early. I do not get to these until later in the day and it will most likely be missed. The most efficient way to have your student released early is to either call or email attendance. That way we can send a pass to your student ahead of time.
- To excuse absence(s) or tardy’ s please email ehsattend@lwsd.org only. Please do not send attendance related emails to my personal email. The ehsattend@lwsd.org email inbox is a shared inbox, so that in the event I am out of the office someone will be able to see your email and get your student excused.

Rotary Student of the Month - February
The Science Department is proud to announce the February Rotary Student of the Month - Pranavi Rohit. Ms. Koury says: “Pranavi represents the very best of our Eastlake values and is an all-star scientist in the making. She is extremely passionate about the content in her classes and loves learning about science. As a student in honors chemistry, her focus was not just on learning chemistry but on how to apply chemistry to other things that she was learning outside of school. She had seemingly endless questions about biochemistry and organics that come from a place of genuine curiosity. Pranavi is also extremely diligent and pays close attention to her mistakes, taking each opportunity as a learning experience. While being an exemplary student, above all, Pranavi is a remarkable human being. She effortlessly balances ambition with gratitude and empathy. When she is working in a group, she helps those around her understand difficult concepts and consistently "leads from the middle" and helps the entire group move forward as one entity. She cares not just about her success, but the success of others and that is what makes her special. The Science Department is proud of Pranavi and can't wait to see what she accomplishes in the future!”
Pranavi would like to pursue studies in life science combining her interest in medicine and biology. She hopes her future career opportunities involve research projects that will benefit society.
Congratulations Pranavi! We are thrilled to have you in the Pack!
