We welcome you back to the

2023-2024 school year. Throughout the summer, many of our staff members have done extensive professional development in their curricular area, and we look forward to them using that knowledge in the classroom with your children. We are all looking forward to a fantastic year!

We have some new staff members and staff changes at LGMS this year.

OPEN HOUSE

TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2023

4:00-7:00pm

Please be advised that we have made many revisions on schedules (mostly study halls). We will be printing Quarter 1 schedules for every student and your FLEX (Homeroom) teacher will have them for your student at Open House.

We will be hosting an open house the evening of Tuesday, August 29th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Students will have an opportunity to walk through their schedule, speak with their teachers, and place their supplies in their lockers. Open House is HIGHLY recommended for all students to attend.

If you missed in-Person Registration, you can check your schedule on Powerschool before you come. Report to your FLEX (Homeroom) teacher for your Quarter 1 schedule and if you are a new student or a 6th grade student, your FLEX (Homeroom) teacher will have your lock.

If you have not E-Registered, we will have chromebooks set up in the cafeteria for you to finish that step.

You may pay fees and purchase locks (if you lost your lock) in the cafeteria during Open House.

If you cannot attend the Open House, students may come in during the day (8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) on Wednesday, August 30th to put things in their locker. Agendas will be handed out the first day of school. Students will not be allowed to come into the school prior

to August 29th.

PLEASE NOTE: Students will be required to use their lockers. Carrying backpacks during the school day will NOT be allowed.

ALGEBRA I PARENTS:

There will be an important information session at 6:30pm during Open House. This will take place in the large group room at the back of the cafeteria. Students are welcome to attend.

FREE BREAKFAST THIS YEAR!

Lake Geneva Schools (Badger and Joint #1) is excited to continue to offer students FREE Breakfast for the 2023 - 2024 School Year.

School breakfast is healthy, convenient, and helps students do well in school. Every student at Badger High School, New Visions Charter School, Lake Geneva Middle School, Star Center Elementary School, Eastview Elementary School, Central-Denison Elementary School, and Maple Park Charter School is eligible to receive a free healthy breakfast at their school each day till the end of the school year for no charge.

We are extremely happy to provide this service to our community. We encourage all students to participate!

It's that time of year! LGMS Student Apparel Store will be open until September 10th, 2023. All orders will be individually bagged and delivered to Laurie Knepper for distribution. Unfortunately no late orders can be accepted.

On June 12 and 13, 2023, the Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union (Badger) High School Board and the Lake Geneva Joint #1 School Board approved the below changes to the 2023-2024 Academic Calendar as well as new school start/stop times for Badger High School, Lake Geneva Middle School, and Star Center Elementary School. School attendance is very important, and we encourage families to make sure their children are in school as much as possible. However, children who are sick need to stay home for their well-being and to prevent others from becoming sick. ***Students need to be to school by 7:15am and are to be in their FLEX hour by the time the bell rings at 7:25am.

Student Attendance and Attendance Procedures

One of the biggest ways parents/guardians can help their child succeed this school year is to make sure their child gets to school, on time, each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for parent’s/guardian’s commitment to making sure their child attends school every day possible this year.

When a child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence BEFORE 9:00AM. When your child will be absent, you have three communication options:

Call Mrs. Kramp in the main office at 262-348-3040 to speak with her and/or leave a message.

REPORT ABSENCES ON POWERSCHOOL OR A PHONE CALL TO THE SCHOOL BY 9:00AM. THANK YOU!

MENUS AND FOOD SERVICE INFORMATION

E-payments are a convenient way to pay school fees and deposit lunch money with a credit card or check online. The Lake Geneva Schools now utilize RevTrak.

All Food Service online transactions are assessed 3.49%. A parent can make deposits to multiple students' accounts in a single order and only incur one 3.49% fee.

All non-food service transactions are also charged a 3.49% transaction fee excluding mandatory registration fee.

POWERSCHOOL PARENT PORTAL: The PowerSchool Parent Portal gives parents and students grades 6 - 12 access to real-time information including attendance, grades and detailed assignment descriptions, school bulletins and even personal messages from a teacher. You can also use PowerSchool to register to receive email alerts for grades, attendance, assignments and more. It’s a great way to stay connected to your child’s teachers and our school.
