IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT STUDENT PICK UP DURING THE DAY
|
|
STUDENT PICK UP DURING THE SCHOOL DAY:
If you need to pick up your student during the day, we ask that you please send a note with your student in the morning with a time that you will be picking them up. That way we can write them a pass to hand to their teacher when it's time to leave. This avoids having to disrupt classes by calling in looking for a student. If you are giving your student permission to walk to an appointment, that must be stated in the note.

Hope Squad Planting Tulips
|
|
Students planted yellow tulip bulbs throughout the outdoor spaces at Lake Geneva Middle School. Five hundred yellow tulip bulbs were donated by community members and distributed by the Walworth County Public Health Department to every school in Walworth County to plant "Gardens of Hope." The gardens will serve as symbols of courage, community, and the importance of ending the
stigma surrounding mental health.

Veteran's Day Ceremony
at LGMS
|
|
Lake Geneva Middle School held its annual Veterans Day celebration on Friday, November 11, 2022. The program featured patriotic music performed by the school’s seventh and eighth-grade orchestras and bands, directed by Mrs. Lauren Klement and Mrs. Amanda Krause. The combined seventh and eighth-grade choirs, directed by Mrs. Kim May and accompanied by Mrs. Carol Berndt, also performed.
Colors were posted by the Color Guard from Post 24 of The American Legion, located in Lake Geneva. Veterans who attended the program “passed the microphone” to introduce themselves and announced when and where they served. Following the assembly, community members, family members of students who are veterans, spouses of veterans, or widows of veterans attended a luncheon at the middle school. The lunch was prepared and served by eighth graders from Mrs. Tara Borland’s family and consumer science class.

Tuesday, November 22nd, four LGMS staff “chefs” called on their culinary skills as they faced off against a team of Badger ProStart student chefs to prepare a spectacular entree consisting of a protein, starch, and vegetable/fruit. The catch? They had to use all the ingredients the competition provided them, even the mystery ingredients. At the end of the competition, the judges scored the entrees based on taste, appearance, and transformation of ingredients. Watch the video to see who took home the bragging rights to the first annual, “Chopped! Badger vs LGMS” Competition! https://youtu.be/4owDzJxrKEc
Great work to all the Chefs!

Important: Student Attendance and
New Attendance Procedures
|
|
School attendance is very important, and we encourage families to make sure their children are in school as much as possible. However, children who are sick need to stay home for their well-being and to prevent others from becoming sick. Click the link to review the Lake Geneva Schools Protocols for When to Keep Your Child Home From School: https://bit.ly/3Bl6Gl9
|
Students need to be to school by 7:20am and are to be in their homerooms by the time the bell rings at 7:30am.
|
|
Student Attendance and Attendance Procedures
One of the biggest ways parents/guardians can help their child succeed this school year is to make sure their child gets to school, on time, each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for parent’s/guardian’s commitment to making sure their child attends school every day possible this year.
When a child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence BEFORE 9:00AM. When your child will be absent, you have three communication options:
Call Mrs. Kramp in the main office at 262-348-3040 to speak with her and/or leave a message.
|
REPORT ABSENCES ON POWERSCHOOL OR A PHONE CALL TO THE SCHOOL BY 9:00AM. THANK YOU!
|
|
START AND END TIMES FOR LGMS: Students need to be in class when the bell rings at 7:30am. School is dismissed at 2:45pm. Door Q (side door) is locked by 7:29am. Students will need to be dropped off by the main office after that time. Students are allowed 3 tardies per semester.
BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served starting at 7:00 a.m. The cafeteria area is only open to students purchasing breakfast.
STUDENT ABSENCES: When reporting your child out ill, please provide us with a detailed message with the exact symptoms your child is experiencing and how long they have had these symptoms. If your child is out of school due to COVID, please provide specific details including symptoms, if tested, or when they were exposed to a confirmed case of COVID. Thank you. To report an absence please call Mrs. Kramp at 262-348-3040.
STUDENT PICK UP: If you need to pick up your student during the day, we ask that you please send a note with your student in the morning with a time that you will be picking them up. That way we can write them a pass to hand to their teacher when it's time to leave. This avoids having to disrupt classes by calling in looking for a student. If you are giving your student permission to walk to an appointment, that must be stated in the note.
BUS PASSES: If your student will be riding the bus home with a friend, please send a letter in the morning indicating who he/she will be going home with. We will then issue a bus pass.
LATE BUSES:
Late buses run as follows:
3:30 p.m. - Tuesdays and Thursdays
4:15 p.m. - Mondays through Thursdays
5:30 p.m. - Mondays through Fridays
LATEX BALLOONS: We have students with latex allergies so please, no latex balloons.
STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP TRAFFIC PATTERN:
Please enter from the southwest end of the loop (closest to the football field). Parking will only be allowed on the curb side. Thank you for being patient during drop off and pick up times. This area gets very busy, and we want to make sure our students are safe.
DRESS CODE REVIEW
Please take a moment to review the Student Dress Code as outlined in the Student Handbook. The handbook is part of every student's agenda.

School Breakfast Program at LGMS
|
|
Dear Parents,
Now that the school year is well underway, we are as committed as ever to our student's academic success. The first and best tool we can use to ensure all of our students are successful in school is to guarantee that each child begins the day with a healthy and nutritious breakfast – at home or school.
We would like to remind you that the School Breakfast Program is available to all students every school day. No advanced registration is necessary. These supervised meals are nutritionally balanced and vary daily. Second-chance breakfast is also available at the High School and Middle School.
School Breakfast is ideal for busy mornings when kids are running late, or parents have early work schedules. Often, kids are not hungry when they first wake up but are ready to eat when school begins. If breakfast at home is not convenient, please take advantage of breakfast here at school. Studies have shown that children who eat a nutritious breakfast have better behavior, attendance, and test scores.
School Breakfast Information:
Price:
High School: $1.70
Middle and Elementary Schools: $1.60
Questions? Call: 262-348-1015
If you did not complete a School Meals Application for free or reduced price meals in September and would like to now, please call (Jaclyn Sanders 262-348-1015) for further information.
Thank you for helping us ensure that all our students start the school day alert, well-fed, and ready to learn.
Sincerely,
Jaclyn Sanders
