**NOTES FROM THE OFFICE**
|
|
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
STUDENT PICK UP DURING THE SCHOOL DAY:
If you need to pick up your student during the day, the main office asks that you please send a note with your student in the morning with a time that you will be picking them up. That way we can write them a pass to hand to their teacher when it's time to leave. This avoids having to disrupt classes by calling in looking for a student. If you are giving your student permission to walk to an appointment, that must be stated in the note.

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AT LGMS?
|
|
Lake Geneva Anthology &
Southern Lakes Anthology
|
|
The Lake Geneva Anthology is an opportunity for all students in grades 3 – 8 to submit a piece of work in one of the following categories: Prose, Poetry, Art, Cartoon, Expository Writing, and Illustrated Writing for possible publication. Students were asked to relate their work to this year’s theme – One in a Million.
Entry submissions were first judged at the school level in December. Then all the entries were judged at the district level to determine the strongest pieces to submit for regional consideration. These entries were judged on clarity of message, creativity, quality, technical skill, and presentation.
The following LGMS students were selected to have their work published as part of this year's Lake Geneva Anthology: Riley Elverman (Grade 6 - Poetry), Leighton Lenz and Josie Mandli (Grade 6 - Illustrated Writing), Averie Helgeland (Grade 6 - Illustrated Writing), Ava Humphrey and Tierney Lentz (Grade 7 - Illustrated Writing), Jacob Pokorny (Grade 7 - Poetry), Mary Snedeker (Grade 7 - Poetry), Dalay Onofre (Grade 7 - Poetry), Dorian Roemer (Grade 7 - Art), Dayanara Torres (Grade 8 - Art), Yajaira Narvaez (Grade 8 - Art), Savana Hamilton (Grade 8 - Art), Hope Reyna (Grade 8 - Art), Laina Kirsch (Grade 8 - Cartoon), Kirsten Sertzel (Grade 8 - Art), Karsyn Monroe (Grade 8 - Poetry), Maggie McKeown (Grade 8 - Poetry), Jay Carlson (Grade 8 - Prose), Whitney Turner (Grade 8 - Poetry), Avery Carstensen (Grade 8 - Poetry), and Brantley Noble (Grade 8 - poetry).
At the regional level, several entries were selected to be published in the Southern Lakes Anthology which is a publication created by the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network. Those LGMS students are: Riley Elverman, Leighton Lenz and Josie Mandli, Averie Helgeland, Ava Humphrey and Tierney Lentz, Dalay Onofre, Dorian Roemer, Dayanara Torres, Savana Hamilton, Hope Reyna, Laina Kirsch, Kirsten Sertzel, Maggie McKeown, and Jay Carlson.
Congratulations to all of these students on this wonderful accomplishment!

Important: Student Attendance and
New Attendance Procedures
|
|
School attendance is very important, and we encourage families to make sure their children are in school as much as possible. However, children who are sick need to stay home for their well-being and to prevent others from becoming sick. Click the link to review the Lake Geneva Schools Protocols for When to Keep Your Child Home From School: https://bit.ly/3Bl6Gl9
|
Students need to be to school by 7:20am and are to be in their homerooms by the time the bell rings at 7:30am.
|
|
Student Attendance and Attendance Procedures
One of the biggest ways parents/guardians can help their child succeed this school year is to make sure their child gets to school, on time, each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for parent’s/guardian’s commitment to making sure their child attends school every day possible this year.
When a child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence BEFORE 9:00AM. When your child will be absent, you have three communication options:
Call Mrs. Kramp in the main office at 262-348-3040 to speak with her and/or leave a message.
|
REPORT ABSENCES ON POWERSCHOOL OR A PHONE CALL TO THE SCHOOL BY 9:00AM. THANK YOU!
|
|
START AND END TIMES FOR LGMS: Students need to be in class when the bell rings at 7:30am. School is dismissed at 2:45pm. Door Q (side door) is locked by 7:29am. Students will need to be dropped off by the main office after that time. Students are allowed 3 tardies per semester.
BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served starting at 7:00 a.m. The cafeteria area is only open to students purchasing breakfast.
STUDENT ABSENCES: When reporting your child out ill, please provide us with a detailed message with the exact symptoms your child is experiencing and how long they have had these symptoms. If your child is out of school due to COVID, please provide specific details including symptoms, if tested, or when they were exposed to a confirmed case of COVID. Thank you. To report an absence please call Mrs. Kramp at 262-348-3040.
STUDENT PICK UP: If you need to pick up your student during the day, we ask that you please send a note with your student in the morning with a time that you will be picking them up. That way we can write them a pass to hand to their teacher when it's time to leave. This avoids having to disrupt classes by calling in looking for a student. If you are giving your student permission to walk to an appointment, that must be stated in the note.
BUS PASSES: If your student will be riding the bus home with a friend, please send a letter in the morning indicating who he/she will be going home with. We will then issue a bus pass.
LATE BUSES:
Late buses run as follows:
3:30 p.m. - Tuesdays and Thursdays
4:15 p.m. - Mondays through Thursdays
5:30 p.m. - Mondays through Fridays
LATEX BALLOONS: We have students with latex allergies so please, no latex balloons.
STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP TRAFFIC PATTERN:
Please enter from the southwest end of the loop (closest to the football field). Parking will only be allowed on the curb side. Thank you for being patient during drop off and pick up times. This area gets very busy, and we want to make sure our students are safe.
DRESS CODE REVIEW
Please take a moment to review the Student Dress Code as outlined in the Student Handbook. The handbook is part of every student's agenda.
