AFTER SCHOOL STUDY LAB

Study Lab will take place every Tuesday from 2:55-4:15 p.m. and Thursdays from 2:55-3:30 p.m. Students will be able to stay after with a teacher from their house to get extra support or make up missing work. A late bus will be available.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ANNOUNCEMENTS

SOUL CLUB : Meeting dates for remainder of year: February 24, March 9, March 30, April 20

GSA CLUB: Meeting dates for the remainder of year: February 17, March 2, March 16, April 6, April 27

DANCE TEAM: Dance Team will practice every Monday through Thursday 2:45 to 4:05 PM until our first performance on Thursday, February 20th. If you would like to come and cheer us on, please be in the gym by 4 PM.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: The 7th and 8th grade girls basketball season has started! The players have a practice and game calendar for families to see our times. Our first "In-House" game is on Tuesday, February 11th at 3:25.

STOCK MARKET CLUB: Stock Market Club is starting on Tuesday, February 25th. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student interested is invited to see Mr. Booth to get a permission slip with details.

Congratulations to the winner of the LGMS Geography Bee, Steven Wang and the 2nd place finisher Isaac Solverson!

Great work to all of the students who qualified for the Geography Bee: Brody Chrisman, Kyle Ellison, Leslie Flores-Cruz, Hunter McKittrick, Eli VanDeBerg, Sawyer Winders, Carmyne Arroyo, Robert Carlson, MacIntosh Greene, Ethan Knepper, Oliver Nafziger, Jose Valladolid, PJ Blount, Alex Cornue, Sydney Krause, Aaron Priester, Isaac Solverson, Steven Wang.

The 7/8 art classes finished their quarter with some amazing projects. Student completed their Hero Portrait project using the grid method and charcoals to enlarge a photograph of someone they consider a hero. Students chose family members, musicians, activists, and more for their subject. Students completed the quarter by creating tape cast sculptures for display around the building and classrooms. Students worked in groups, first developing a plan for where and how their sculpture would be placed in a space. One member got to be the 'lucky' mold and was casted piece by piece to create the sculpture. The end result was incredibly fun for students and we've all enjoyed seeing their work around the building.

Lake house science classes have been researching endangered animals using the World Wildlife Fund website. Students used the Zentangle Method to create unique drawings and bring awareness to animals on the Endangered Species List. As the name suggests, the activity of creating these "tangles" has become a "zen" activity, or "yoga for the mind" according to founders Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts. The relaxing artwork of Zentangle has been said to increase focus, creativity, self-esteem, confidence, and reduce anxiety. Their artwork is on display in the 7th grade area. In addition, the classes are researching endangered animals of their choice and the classes voted for an animal they would like to symbolic adopt through the WWF. MATH 24

Red and Green House students joined forces to play a math game together. Ms. Markuson's and Mrs. Wade's 10th hour classes met to play Math 24 together. Math 24 is a challenging game for students to test their problem solving skills.

7TH GRADE SLEDDING

Seventh grade students had a fun day at Grand Geneva for their Responsibility Challenge Incentive. Students earned the trip by showing positive responsibility habits, which is tracked through a point system. Students earn points each class by showing responsibility for their behavior, being on time, and being prepared for class (which includes completed homework).

Thank you to the LGMS PTO for funding our busses for students who qualified to attend the sledding trip at Grand Geneva on February 4! It is greatly appreciated!

Red House would like to thank the PTO for sponsoring our Punchcard raffle for quarter two. 15 student who brought their supplies to class all quarter won gift cards. Coming to class prepared is a great trait to have and the Red House teachers are proud of these kiddos!

MISCELLANEOUS INFO TO KNOW

BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served starting at 7:00 a.m. The cafeteria area is only open to students purchasing breakfast.

STUDENT PICK UP: If you need to pick up your student during the day, we ask that you please send a note with your student in the morning with a time that you will be picking them up. That way we can write them a pass to hand to their teacher when it's time to leave. This avoids having to disrupt classes by calling in looking for a student.

BUS PASSES: If your student will be riding the bus home with a friend, please send a letter in the morning indicating who he/she will be going home with. We will then issue a bus pass.

LATE BUSES - NEW THIS YEAR:

Late buses run as follows:

3:30 p.m. - Tuesdays and Thursdays

4:15 p.m. - Mondays through Thursdays

5:30 p.m. - Mondays through Fridays

LATEX BALLOONS: We have students with latex allergies so please, no latex balloons.

WATER BOTTLES: Students are allowed to have water bottles during the school day - WATER ONLY. Please, no other liquids.

Chromebook Care

Parents and Students: While we understand that accidents happen, it is important that students do their best to properly care for their chromebook. Should something happen to the chromebook, students should complete a Chromebook Repair Request form and take it, along with their chromebook, to the LMC.

AROUND THE DISTRICT

On Saturday, February 8th from 9 am - 5 pm, Badger High School has partnered with Verlo Mattress in Lake Geneva to do a Mattress Sale Fundraiser. 20% of all sales that day will go to the Badger High School Scholarship Fund. Since your students are all Future Badgers, we would love it if you could get involved in this fundraiser! We are asking for your help and in return, our school will receive $$$ too!

How do you help? Simple share the coupons with your friends and family. If they are interested in a new mattress, have them head to Verlo Mattress in Lake Geneva on February 8th between 9 am - 5 pm and show the coupon (photo of coupon or actual coupon will work!). It is as easy as that!

FOR EACH REFERRAL WHO BUYS A MATTRESS SET BADGER EARNS AT LEAST $10

If 3+ referrals buy a mattress set you earn $60

If 5+ referrals buy a mattress set you earn $150

If 8+ referrals buy a mattress set you earn $300

If 10 referrals buy a mattress set you earn $500

PLUS An additional $25 for each referral over 10!
