This month, we're focused on the importance of child care. Child care is a fundamental infrastructure that is essential to growing our workforce and economy. Without child care, many women are not able to remain at their jobs.
Child care availability has become an even more urgent crisis during the pandemic. One out of four women who reported becoming unemployed during the pandemic said it was because of a lack of child care—twice the rate among men.
Child care is also a majority women-owned small business sector that is also staffed by women, largely by women of color.
So let's take action! Contact your reps, learn more about the issue, and be a strong advocate for the importance of child care in your workplace.
