Radical Joy Revealed is dedicated to making beauty for Earth's wounded places. Of course, once you start becoming aware of how many wounded places there are, all around your bioregion, in the world, and in your own life, and once you realize how different you feel (empowered, strengthened, connected to other people over shared concerns) when you make beauty for those places, then you can't help looking for ways to bring the practice to other kinds of hurt places.

To that end, this Radical Joy Revealed takes a step away from the wounded woods, rivers, deserts, and mountains to ask how we deal with the wounded places in our society. Whether you voted for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump or didn't vote at all, you are probably concerned about how the racism, misogyny, lying, and hatred exhibited so aggressively during the campaign are already showing up in the Trump presidency.

That's why the Women's March on January 21 was such an amazing event. The campaign and the approaching administration have filled many people with fear for their rights, their land, and even their lives. Yet on this day, they faced fear with fierce determination to show up and speak out. From Washington, DC, where half a million congregated, to the small desert town of Bishop, California, where 600 people raised signs and voices, to numerous events large and small around the world, women and their male supporters declared: We will not be cowed or silenced--or grabbed--by anyone.

Simply standing up and announcing that you will speak out when what you love and value is under assault is an act of radical beauty!
