Half a million women left the U.S. workforce between January and August 2025.

WHY?

✅Return-to-office mandates. 63% of C-suite executives reported RTO policies caused a "disproportionate number" of women to quit. Women left at triple the rate of men.

✅Caregiving. 24.6% of women who left work did so for caregiving. 62% of women left or changed careers due to childcare costs compared to 36% of fathers.

✅Burnout. 46% of women reported burnout versus 37% of men. Women spend 1.5 times more hours on caregiving and housework - equivalent to 20 hours per week.

✅Pay gaps. Women with college degrees are paid 24.2% less than men. Black women earned $0.65 cents on the dollar. For every 100 men promoted to manager, only 81 women get promoted.

So what are women doing?

✅Starting businesses. There are 14-million women-owned businesses. From 2019-2023, they grew 94.3% faster than men-owned businesses.

Even though;

Women-owned businesses received only 2.3% of venture capital funding. The average loan size is $49,712 versus $83,198 for men, despite having a higher success rate and ROI.

So, women are seeking support from other women and also joining women focused networks and communities.
