In March, Amigos staff attended a workshop with Dr. Nidia Castillo from Tzununa´s Health Center to learn about cervical cancer prevention and early detection. The training is part of the preparation for Amigos’ new campaign to create awareness about cervical cancer and highlight the importance of preventive medicine.

Amigos are training our staff to ensure they have the necessary knowledge to replicate the workshop with women from the community and promote early detection tests.

The lack of access to healthcare and information about women´s health prevents women in Santa Cruz from getting regular check-ups and find potential health issues before they become a problem.

Amigos recognizes the need to educate women about these topics and create a safe space in our Sexual and Reproductive Education Program to ask questions and share their experiences with other women.

Stay tuned for updates on Amigos’ cervical cancer prevention campaign.
