Recovery House Warming

We are still in awe of all of the work and passion Women United members put into readying the Recovery House for residents during our House Warming event on February 22!

Naomi's House is an all-new Women's Recovery House in Mount Vernon. The home has been carefully redone by the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Licking and Knox Counties, as well as Behavioral Healthcare Partnerships of Central Ohio. Additionally, a Women United Grant outfitted the bedrooms and bathrooms in the house with decorations, linens and other necessities, as well as provided a patio set and grill.

The Recovery Home has been a passion project of Women United from the very beginning. Our members have been working behind the scenes in support of this project for the past three years.
Women United members came out in droves to stock the house with small gifts of paper products, cleaning supplies and toiletries during our House Warming event. They also began the task of preparing the bedrooms and living spaces and decorating for the residents.
The House Warming proved to be an emotional evening, a culmination of years of dedication and it allowed a collective sigh of relief for all of us.
The project is now completed and residents are moving in. With the home, and through the help of Women United, vulnerable women will be able to restart their lives with safety and hope.
Thank you to everyone who came out to help!  More photos are  available on Facebook  and here

Ruling Our eXperiences in Knox County!

International Women's Day, March 8, proved to be a very special occasion for young women in Knox County.

We all saw pink as ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) visited the Mount Vernon Nazarene University campus. All of our Knox County ROX girls were invited to come together to celebrate International Women's Day at an event hosted by Women United and our partner agency New Directions.

Dr. Lisa Hinkelman, Founder and Executive Director of ROX joined us for the event as the keynote speaker and led a small group session.

The event encouraged our participants to think critically and shift their focus into becoming confident young women through the small group  exercises and an empowering self-defense class.
Women United makes ROX available in Danville, East Knox, Centerburg, Fredericktown, East Elementary and Mount Vernon Middle School.

Thank you for your continued support in helping girls experience this wonderful program!
Stay tuned for a video of the event to see all of the amazing things ROX is doing for girls in Knox County!
