The research outlines how women Veterans are an undervalued resource, uncovering several common barriers they face in their search for post-military employment: starting over (often near the bottom), asking for help, child care, and not self-identifying as Veterans to name a few. As the largest private funder of Veteran employment, CODE believes each and every Veteran, female or male, out of work or underemployed, represents a lost opportunity for our society. They empower organizations like Still Serving Veterans (SSV) to offer career and transition support when their time in uniform is complete.
Currently, SSV is supporting about 2,500 clients, 23% of whom are female, in their search for a meaningful civilian career. We are honored that these female Veterans are asking for assistance with their transition. It can be a trying time, but we can relate, half of SSV's Career & Transition Counselors are Women, and Veterans themselves. They bring compassion and first-hand knowledge to the military-to-civilian switch.
