The Gas-to-Power Specialist will leverage USAID’s Gas Roadmap and Power Africa Toolkit to focus on: (i) country-specific gas-to-power road-mapping; (ii) advisory support to specific transaction/infrastructure opportunities; (iii) improving public sector planning capacity; (iv) developing new financing/guarantee tools to reduce the risk of gas supply disruptions; and (v) tie-ins to regional transmission plans. USAID’s Engendering Utilities Launches Workforce Gender Equality Accelerated Program!
USAID's Engendering Utilities Program is excited to launch the Workplace Gender Equality Accelerated Program; a six-month program that includes gender equality assessments, a seven-week virtual course, and four months of change management coaching. Over the course of the program, participants will develop a unique Gender Equality Action Plan, a strategy for advancing gender equality at their organizations. The African Development Bank invites you to apply for funding!
Do you have a business idea that will support women entrepreneurs? Do you need funding? Read the African Development Bank’s call for proposals for projects that enhance the viability and sustainability of women entrepreneurs. Between $100,000-$250,000 of funding will be available to eligible organizations through the Bank’s Gender Equality Trust Fund. Deadline May 30, 2021.

The East Africa Energy Program (EAEP) is offering female professionals the opportunity to learn how to advance their energy sector careers by providing training that increases employment prospects.

USAID’s Engendering Utilities Gender Equality Guides
The Engendering Utilities gender equality guides provide stepwise support for senior leaders and managers at organizations seeking to increase gender equality in the workplace. These guides will help organizations to develop a business case for gender equality, set goals and targets, and create policies that increase gender equality. Gender-Based Violence and Electricity Access
Power Africa and International Finance Corporation (IFC) co-hosted a session looking at the links between gender-based violence and electricity access and how access to energy can play a critical role in mitigating gender-based violence issues. Read more here.
Congratulations to WiAP member, Nthabiseng Mosai, for serving as a speaker at the Leaders Summit on Climate. Nthabiseng spoke about the role of clean energy in creating economic opportunities for Africa’s young and growing population, and the work of Easy Solar, a company she co-founded.
