Women in Construction Week 2026 gave us the opportunity to spotlight some of the incredible women who help build our company and our communities every day. Throughout the week, we shared stories from across Barnhill, highlighting career paths that began unexpectedly, lessons learned through hands‑on experience, and the pride that comes from being part of something bigger than yourself.

From the field to project management and support roles, each woman spoke to the importance of perseverance, support, and opportunity in an industry that continues to grow stronger through diverse perspectives. Their stories reinforced what makes Barnhill special: a people‑first culture where individuals are known, supported, and encouraged to learn, grow, and lead.

Patty Wren, Project Manager

Barnhill Building Group

From motherhood and work/life balance to being known as “Plumber Patty” for putting her expertise to work in the office, Patty’s story shows how far our industry has come and where it’s going.

Dedra Judd, Grading Foreman

Heavy Highway Division

For 37 years, Dedra has helped build more than roads, she’s built a legacy. Inspired after seeing other women working in construction, her excitement led her to apply and begin a career that changed everything.

Katy Oliver, Project Manager

Coastal Division

Katy’s construction career started while she was in college. She took a job as a clerk just to have work, and ended up never leaving. Katy shares how, even in a male-dominated industry, she’s always been treated as an equal and supported by her team.

Samantha Lindsey, Project Manager

Barnhill Building Group

Samantha recently welcomed twin girls, and she shares how excited she is to one day bring them onto a jobsite and show them everything she’s helped build. Her love for construction started early, watching in awe of her pawpaw and what he did.

Ginny Catlett, Truck Driver & Emerging Leader

Southeast Division

Ginny shares how important it is not to let challenges hold you back. She takes immense pride in her work and the fact that people and goods wouldn't be able to travel without the work we do.

Julie Hall, Grading Foreman

Coastal Division

Julie’s interest in construction started as a child when her grandfather ran a dozer, and that curiosity stayed with her. Twenty‑eight years with Barnhil and she’s built a rewarding career by learning as she went and taking on new challenges every day.

Marilee Phuphosaeng, HRG

Coastal Division

While Marilee supports our teams through HR, she finds real value in participating in programs that allow her and others to learn more about our field operations. Construction found her when she wasn’t looking, but she is proud to be a part of it.
