Commercials compete for our attention on any devise—24/7! They endeavor to be funnier, more shocking, wiser, louder—vying for our attention and pocketbook.

Churches also compete for listeners/followers with the “true message” from God. The problem is the messages from God are not consistent. One church preaches a much different message from another.

This week, I received a video from a loved one of a message from a church that was totally against the Word. She was disgusted with the message and invited me to listen. I felt cautioned NOT to listen! It is not a surprise to God that so called Christian pastors are disseminating false information regarding God. The Bible warns of an apostate church in the last days. Actually, the false church has been around since the true Church was birthed. We can look for the apostates, be shocked at their lies, and expose them; and that is sometimes necessary.

But God strongly reminded me this morning to...

set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

Colossians 3:1-4 (NLT)

When the apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians, he was combating false teachings and “syncretism” combining God’s truth with current philosophies and pagan religion. His advice was to keep looking up, think about Christ and HIS life, HIS position. As we get sad or troubling news about politics, churches, friends, and family, we can be pulled into lamenting the news, stewing over it, obsessing and planning how this situation will play out.

I am purposing to set my eyes and attention on the God of the universe who truly has life and solutions for every situation. You are invited to join me.
Love and Prayers,

Frieda
