Childcare provision during asylum interviews in the UK
-the story of a successful campaign
"They're decorating the office next to the asylum interview room to make it into a play room."
Winning a campaign to change government policy and practice is rare, but it does happen.
We are pleased to announce that our campaigning has led to the Home Office providing childcare across the UK for women during their asylum interviews. This can enable them to give their best evidence and prevents them upsetting their children.
This campaign involved numerous individuals and NGOs and was facilitated by
Asylum Aid's Women's Project over more than a decade.
Asylum Aid is part of Migrants Resource Centre. We continue to provide legal advice and representation on immigration and asylum. We also run a variety of free courses and workshops to help migrants and their families. Find out how we can help:
