Statement from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus to the Oregon State University Board of Trustees
We are profoundly disappointed, frustrated and angered by the numerous insensitive and grievous responses of Dr. F. King Alexander and others in the handling of the sexual assault complaints from students while he was serving as president of Louisiana State University. Please see pages 36 to 46 in the Husch Blackwell Title IX Review of LSU. Even after receiving and being briefed on multiple internal audits, internal and external risk assessments, communications from community members, recommendations from his own presidential task force and a presentation from the LSU Title IX Coordinator, in our opinion, Dr. Alexander's responses and actions were inexplicably inadequate and subpar. He failed the sexual assault survivors, students, community, parents, and the governmental officials who trusted him.
We encourage you, the Oregon State University Board of Trustees, to thoroughly review the report for the inaction and lack of responsiveness that we are currently unraveling in Louisiana. We have no confidence that he will protect your students, because he chose not to protect ours.
