How did you get into the field of HR and Benefits?

 

During my freshman year at Adelphi University, I was introduced to the field of Human Resources. I found it was a field that would allow me to exercise my love for problem-solving, helping others, and continuing to learn while making a lasting impact on those around me. When I started at the Library, I was a temp in our HR Service Center, which provides a range of HR services and support to our employees and retirees. At the time, I was just looking for a full-time role after graduating and had no idea I would spend the next 11 years learning and growing at NYPL. I was fortunate enough to join an amazing HR team, where they cultivated and engaged my curiosity. Our VP of HR, Terrance Neal, encouraged me to obtain my Masters of Science in Industrial Labor Relations, which deepened my love and respect for the field of HR.
