"But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us." 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8
Which is easier, sharing the gospel or your life with others? Perhaps you have been trained to give a gospel presentation. Still, when it comes to the cost of your comfort and convenience to embody gospel truth in your relationships with others, that may be a different story. This tension is a gospel gap and an invitation to a discipleship classroom. The aim of our women's ministries should be to help women think biblically and live covenantally or relationally about all of life. Word-based discipleship propels us upward in the worship of our Covenant-keeping God. The Spirit-empowered overflow should be relationally-driven discipleship that compels us to live covenantally with others.
When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39). Women's ministry leaders are privileged to cultivate this type of discipleship culture to strengthen our churches. Word-based and relationally-driven discipleship always has two trajectories: upward and then outward. The vertical always informs the horizontal. Living and leading with a covenantal framework is not easy; it is impossible in your own strength.
We invite you to gather with other women's ministry leaders to think biblically about what it looks like to live and lead in the tension between Word-based and relationally-driven ministry and be encouraged by the reality of how one fuels the other.
Our 2024 Leadership Training (LT) is designed to:
- Encourage weary women's ministry leaders primarily in their vertical relationship with Christ.
- Equip curious women's ministry leaders in their horizontal relationship with those they are privileged to serve.
- Connect diverse leaders from all over the world, to remind them they are not alone in this sacred holy calling of Word-based and relationally-driven discipleship.
