My last words...

Wow! Time flies when you are having fun! This turn of phrase is so true. I can hardly believe that I'm writing my last letter to you as your Chair. We've accomplished a great deal this year. We've created a new strategic plan for the future of Women's Network. We've continued to strengthen our new fledgling mentoring program as well as continue to tweak Athena to help it realize its full potential.
Many people have asked me "What's next for you in Women's Network after this year?" My answer to that is to still be very present and serve in a supportive role for the fabulous leadership team we have in place. This is an exciting time for me. While Past Chair is an official position with a few duties, I do get to rest a minute.

Women's Network's Changing the Odds committee hosted their bi-annual seminar on Saturday, June 3 at Alternative Community Training (ACT). The program was designed   for women who are looking for an opportunity to learn more about personal finance and furthering their education. 

This seminar included presentations on building a budget, understanding insurance, credit and banking, financial aid and creating your nest egg.  The event also included an Education & Resource Fair, where participants were given the opportunity to visit with experts from the education, finance and assistance fields.

The event helped 17 attendees to have a better understanding about personal finance, education and how to begin the next step in their career journey!

It's All About You!
-A Year in Review with Women's Network-

It's hard to believe that the Women's Network 2016-2017 year is coming to an end.  Please join us for the June Women's Network Luncheon, as we wrap up a wonderful year!  During the program, we will reveal Women's Network's NEW Strategic Plan, reconnect with some of our past award recipients  and hear from Erica Pefferman, one last time as  Women's Network Chair .  This will be an exciting luncheon that you will not want to miss!  


Advance registration is appreciated. Online registration is $15 for members and $18 for guests until 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.  After the pre-registration deadline, attendees can pay at the door.  Prices will be $18 for members and $21 for guests. We hope to see you there!

Heart of Missouri United Way

Karla Williams grew into her position as the Strategic Projects Manager for the Heart of Missouri United Way after being a faithful volunteer for over 30 years in various capacities.  She went from being a donor to now handling the relationships with their major donors.  Karla also keeps a close eye on community issues and tries to find places her donors can make an impact, which she finds very meaningful.  She loves working in a job where she feels she can make a difference in the lives of those around her.

Chamber Leadership Visit 2017 Scholarship  
WN is Now Accepting Applications!    

Women's Network is a division of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Our mission is to connect, empower and engage our members through leadership development, educational opportunities and innovative outreach. To fulfill this mission, Women's Network is offering a scholarship to send one Women's Network member on the annual Chamber Leadership Visit. The scholarship will cover the registration fee (including travel, lodging, transportation and group meals).

Recipient Requirements:
  • Recipient must be a member of Women's Network and their company a member in good standing with the Chamber
  • Recipient must report back to the WN Steering Committee and the WN membership at-large about the outcomes of the trip

Applications are due Monday, July 3, 2017 at 5 p.m.
XWN Graduate Mixer

Calling all Experience Women's Network (XWN) Graduates! Join us for the 2017 XWN Mixer on Wednesday, June 14 from 4-6 p.m. at Craft Beer Cellar! All past and current graduates of the Women's Network XWN program are invited to attend. Join us for refreshments, light appetizers and great networking.
