MAY 2018 Newsletter
Welcome to Spring

Even with the weather not cooperating, spring is in the air as we celebrate lots of activities with both the Chamber of Commerce and Women’s Network. Banquets, Showcase and naming of the Small Business and ATHENA Young Professional finalists are now complete, and I realize as we work our way through budget and nomination committees, my term as your Women’s Network Chair is winding down. It truly has been a wonderful and humbling opportunity to get to represent such a remarkable organization at this level. Leadership is simple when you have a strong team and a clear vision. I’m so proud of our organization and the fact that no matter what obstacle is placed in front of our volunteers you lead through the change without hesitation or fear. Our passion and common goals are a true recipe for success, and it is with great pride I get to tell our story over and over to those who want to know more about our group. For this month’s newsletter I thought I would share one of those recent conversations with you. Because sometimes as a group I think we forget how impressive our organization really is to outsiders. How easy everyone makes their hard work, dedication and passion for this group look as we orchestrate through activities and lift each other up through celebrations and friendships.

Title: Interior Designer/Selections Coordinator
I work to understand what the client’s wants, needs, and desires are then transform that into a functional and beautiful design while still meeting budget needs. I assist clients in making selections, assist in the estimating process, and work with production in managing the selection information throughout the building process.

The Women’s Network Budget and Finance committee (B&F) is made up of WN Leadership as well as representatives from the general membership. For the 2018-2019 budget, the committee’s focus was on recent changes in TRC and what needed funding. Overall the committee came out with very few changes after the budget overhaul last year. B&F was proud to grant budget increase requests from varying committees who did an excellent job justifying their requests based on the WN Strategic Plan.

Brainstorm meetings can be an effective step in the creative process, but a small misstep can completely derail a brainstorm session. This quick read and interview with Todd Henry, author, speaker, and advisor, outlines a few brainstorming breakthroughs in this insightful Southwest Magazine article, "Boost Your Brainstorm".
Congratulations to the following Women's Network members who have achieved personal or professional milestones:

Congratulations to Erica Pefferman , Columbia Business Times , chosen to give the graduation speech to the Stephens College, graduate and online graduation!

Congratulations to Connection Exchange , owned by WN Members Jennifer Schenck and Cara Owings , for their celebration of Small Business Week Finalist last week!
