”And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."- Hebrews 10:24-25

Each time I find myself struggling, especially with my faith, God lavishes me in love through other people. Since moving to Lincoln nearly 14 years ago the (non-family) communities God has blessed me with began at Sheridan. We found our faith family here almost immediately through our Sojourners group. It has morphed and changed but is still going strong. Being on church council and the women’s ministry team afforded me whole new perspectives on how to be faithful. My Grace Group - one of the originals - continues to flourish. We’ve loved and encouraged each other through a lot. I can’t imagine my life without those women. Beth Moore Bible study groups expanded my biblical understanding and my Faith Builders class grew my spiritual practices by holding me accountable. MOLT (Mothers Of Lutheran Teenagers) formed organically out of a group of moms finding ourselves all waiting for our kids in the church parking lot during Worship by the Fire. We went to coffee, and decided to continue meeting monthly, even when there is no Worship by the Fire. We share a bond through our kids and are able to give advice and encouragement to one another.

In April, the first Sheridan class of Companions in Christ finished its eight-month journey together. We were a group of unique individuals with different views, personalities and arriving from various places along our spiritual paths and we formed a community. It was a wonderful, challenging experience. A few of us felt called to keep journeying together so we started a new “Companions” Grace Group.

The more I look, the more I see these beautiful gifts of amazing people. What a blessing! I pray that you too are abundantly blessed and spurred on to love and good deeds by the people God has chosen just for you.
