2016 Diocese of Cascadia
Spring Women's Retreat
Huge Success
2016 Cascadia Women's Retreat

Perhaps the Spirit is always evident at Cascade Camp as much as he was the weekend of April 8-10, but even the staff noticed. The women who gathered there from the Diocese of Cascadia were blessed with wonderful teaching and the tangible presence of the sweet Spirit of our Lord and Savior. And they overflowed with joy and grace.

There was much to be thankful for, with Mary McKinney offering practical teaching based on God's merciful presence in her own life and the scriptures, and on stories of power in everyday lives-including good reminders to practice care in our words and thoughts. One strong takeaway was to listen to the small voice when we are prompted to do something, as we may not only miss the grace or goodness waiting, but there might be a life in the balance.

The dedicated prayer team offered great power in lifting up those asking for particular grace in areas of their lives... and the Lord answered! Cascade camp is a lovely spot, the staff carefully prepared meals and tailor-made food for those with restrictions and allergies. All around, the women of Cascadia were mightily blessed and, in turn, were a blessing to those around them.

To cap the weekend, the group was blessed by Bishop Allen driving all the way down from Bellingham to minister Holy Eucharist. All that could be wished, other than wanting other sisters from the far corners to be able to join next time, like those from Alaska. A fine three days, indeed, and the fruit will surely continue to spill over in the lives of those who attended.
