Wow, the weather is certainly rather nice at the moment. Our family is certainly grateful because our daughter, Shelley, marries Dan Wijers this weekend. Thanks for the scores of cards and notes, wishing Shelley and Dan God’s blessings, and for the many times we have been blessed by your comments. Karyn and I are so delighted and so thankful to the Lord. I get to be the Father of the Bride while Shelley and Dan are married by her two brothers, Rob and Greg. We will be so praying for them as they begin their life together - Dan flying out of Juba, South Sudan, while they make their resident home in Zimbabwe!
Just saying - all the great preparation for this wedding does remind me of the fact that the Bible tells us that we are “the bride of Christ”. We are being prepared for the time when all believers will be in the presence of Jesus, having been “invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.” As we study God’s Word together, we are being prepared because we “grow in the grace of God”, and we mature in our faith and relationship with God through the fullness of Christ in us.
The church is being prepared for the coming of Jesus. Perhaps no greater reason to thank the Lord for every opportunity we have to worship, study, pray, serve, and give together. We can see this preparation so clearly in and through all the ministries of our church.
I cannot wait to see you all Sunday with your Bibles in hand.

We are very grateful for the continued faithful stewardship of so many to First Baptist Spartanburg. During the fall season, we often think of the harvest and 2 Corinthians 9:6, “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” Thank you for sowing bountifully through your generous giving so that more people can be reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
While there are many ways to financially support First Baptist, here are a couple of options we want you to be aware of:
·         As we prepare for the relaunch of Vision 2020 did you know that you can make gifts now to the fund? As you give each month, would you consider making an extra gift above your tithe to prepare for the relaunch of Vision 2020?
·         Is your will in order? This may be a good time to review your will to make sure your family is taken care of and also consider how you can bless First Baptist by establishing a legacy gift through your estate. Visit www.fbs.org/legacy to learn more about how our partner, Philanthrocorp, can confidentially help you plan through this process at no cost to you.

October Prayer Focus
Focusing this month on Nehemiah Teams, an organization passionate about sending college students to the unreached and the hard to reach, serving on 52-day short-term mission projects. Since 2004 over 3,200 young people have been trained and sent out as Nehemiah Teams to multiple unreached and hard to reach people groups in 31 different countries. These teams have worked with IMB workers from remote villages to urban centers sharing the gospel, and creating eternal results. Pray for our young people who have been a part of the Nehemiah Teams, for those who are being called, and for those who will be called to serve.

We all want to do big things. For a preschooler, big dreams come easy. This month, our preschoolers will learn all about David and the big things God did through him. We’ll find out that God made us ALL to do big things through Him, and that we can be Super Kids all the time!
