Drug-Free Communities Grant Updates
|
|
Much has transpired since July!
2022 Grant Application
In August, Wood County Educational Service Center employees (on behalf of the Wood County Prevention Coalition) submitted a continuation grant application to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the 2022 funding year. The award amount is $125,000. This grant contains a 125 percent non-federal match requirement.
Completion of CADCA's National Coalition Academy
Also in August, Director Kyle Clark and Coordinator Tina Bradley completed the third and final week of CADCA's National Coalition Academy. The following materials were provided to CADCA for review/approval: Community Assessment, Logic Model, Strategic and Action Plan, Evaluation Plan and Evaluation Communication Plan. Wood County's materials were fully approved without need of any modifications (the only Coalition out of 21 others in attendance to receive full approval first round)! A Sustainability Plan was submitted in early October--fulfilling the last requirement to obtain the honor of graduation from the National Coalition Academy! The graduation ceremony will be held in late January 2022 in National Harbor, MD. Click here to view our CADCA-approved Underage Drinking logic model--to be presented by our Coalition's President Francesca Leass, MSSA, LSW LICAC at our December Coalition meeting.
Director Accepts Board Role
Director of the Wood County Prevention Coalition/Drug-Free Communities Grant Program and Prevention Education Kyle Clark was recently named to the Prevention Action Alliance (PAA)'s Board of Directors. When asked by the PAA, along with other new Board members, to summarize why he decided to undertake this latest leadership role, Kyle responded, " PAA advocates for the healthy development of our youth, and the invitation to help continue moving PAA's mission and vision forward." Please join us in congratulating him!

The Wood County Youth Survey 2022
The Wood County Youth Survey 2022 has been reviewed and approved by our grant's awarding agency, the Centers for Disease Control, and will launch this November! The survey is completed by adolescents in all public school districts in Wood County including: Bowling Green, Eastwood, Elmwood, Lake, North Baltimore, Northwood, Otsego, Penta Career Center, Perrysburg, and Rossford. The Wood County public schools are the only schools included in this report as they represent the original 2004 cohort group of schools. All school districts will receive individual reports of the substance use trends reported by the youth in their school districts. Results of this survey will be available in early 2022. Conducted by William J. Ivoska, Ph.D., the survey is a collaborative effort amongst the Wood County Educational Service Center, the Wood County ADAMHS Board and the Wood County Prevention Coalition. For added information, review The Wood County Youth Survey 2020.
