June 2025

From the Parks & Rec Office

Hello Woodbury,

Summer is almost here, and we’re kicking things off with some great events! Puzzle Palooza returns on June 4 for a night of teamwork and fun, followed by Country Night Line Dancing at Hollow Park on June 6. Bring your boots and enjoy an evening of music and dancing!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. Your presence helped make the day a meaningful tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Starting this week, our Monday night Zumba classes will be held under the Hollow Park Pavilion for the summer. Come out, enjoy the evening fresh air, and get yourself moving! Registration is open for full sessions or pay per class options are available.

We’re excited to announce that the Woodbury Great Gnome Hunt is back! From June 14 through June 30, keep your eyes open. Gnomes will be hidden all around town, just waiting to be found.

Our Parks and Rec Summer Camp kicks off the week of June 23! There are still spots available in some of our Grades 5–6 and Teen Camp weeks. We’re also excited to welcome our new Summer Camp Director, Rich Basile. Rich's professional endeavors have brought him all over the world. His resume includes time in the Japanese sub-tropics (teaching ESL), the woods of Vermont (building trails), and the Colorado Rockies (leading tours through Rocky Mountain National Park). After nearly 15 years away from home, he is happy to return to the small towns where he grew up and begin his new career as a public-school ELA teacher. As the new summer camp Director for Woodbury Parks and Rec, Rich is looking forward to sharing his passions for the outdoors and education with all of his campers.

Congratulations to Linda McCarthy on her recent promotion to Recreation Coordinator. We’re excited to have her continue supporting our programs in this new role.

From gnome-hunting to boot-scooting and Zumba-grooving, we’re kicking off summer with a whole lotta fun. June’s looking puzzle-perfect! Scroll down to see what else we have planned this month. There’s something for everyone!
