Summer Camp!
Open to Woodbury/Bethlehem residents and non-residents!
Grades entering K - 6th
Come and spend the day with your friends while enjoying games, crafts, sport, drama, theme days, talent shows, and much more!
All children are grouped by grade and all activities are age appropriate. Camp is for children entering Kindergarten to grade 6 in the fall. Camp will be held at the Mitchell School, from 8:30am to 2:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, and on Fridays we are at Hollow Park for five weeks .
You may choose any number of weeks you like.
Grades entering 7th - 9th
Teen Travel Camp is now full! You can still sign up for the waitlist!
Monday through Thursday (except the week of July 5th) a different trip every day!
Meet in the Middle School back parking lot and board a bus at 9:00 am for a different destination each day. Return around 3pm (depending on the trip, sometimes later).

Basketball Program
Five-day program
Challenge your potential! This program will provide: development of basketball fundamentals and competitive games, daily contests, prizes and giveaways for each player, award ceremony on final day of camp and a fun filled week where each player goes home with something. With strategies to develop the all-around player, the staff works hard to be sure there is a positive, upbeat and energetic climate for making the most out of the experience. Fundamentals are the focus.
All aspects of game are explored including offense, defense, and foul shooting. Players will leave with learned moves from the triple threat position, off the dribble, the low post and much more!
Age: Grades 1 to 9
Times: 8:00am to either 12:00pm or 2:45pm

Private Violin and Viola Lessons

Tuesdays, 2:30 - 5:00 pm (30 min time slot)
The student is responsible for renting or buying his or her own instrument. The instructor may require one or more music books be purchased prior to the start of lessons. Classical method of violin playing is taught, though these techniques can be applied to all styles of violin playing including jazz, country and Irish fiddle.
Lisa Laquidara is a professional violinist and teacher.

Outside The Lines Color Crazy
Five-day program
We are so excited to explore color through different artistic lenses during Color Craze! Throughout the week, we will design colorful creations using materials like yarn, shaving cream, marbles and bubbles. Students can expect to create eye-catching designs while learning about different techniques like marbling, pull-string art and dot art. Our instructors will also give brief lessons about the history of some of the techniques students will be using. When it is time for a break from art, students will be playing fun games and making new friends!

Chess Wizards Camp

Join us this summer for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes. You'll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain!
Our camps include fun team chess games (like Corner Chess), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Each camper receives a T-shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder. We include all the materials necessary for your child to participate. Unleash your brain power and spend part of your vacation with Chess Wizards!

Food Explorers Summer Camp

Join Food Explores to Taste the Rainbow! Explore new flavors, cooking techniques and recipes by delving into a new color each day, learning all about foods of that color.
You’ll also discover fun facts about food and nutrition through interactive games and activities between recipes. Each day will feature a snack and a meal. All recipes are nut free and some will contain dairy and/or eggs.

Under the direction of PGA Pro Pete Stankevich, campers will learn the fundamentals of the golf swing, playing with woods and irons, pitching, sand bunker play, chipping, putting, contests, rules & etiquette, swing video analysis, mini golf tournament, learn and play on a local golf course, and much more!

TEACHING LIFE SKILLS THROUGH SPORTS
STEM & Play Soccer (Middlebury, CT)
Ages: 8 to 12 Times: 6:00pm to 7:45pm Dates: June 27 - 30
Fee:$105 for residents, $115 for non-residents.
This program combines strategic STEM-based activities with traditional Skyhawks soccer instruction and a focus on life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship. STEM Sports® soccer curriculum gives students the opportunity to get behind the sport they love with modules on soccer ball design, throw-in science, angles and goal-line technology! Participants will also learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, dribbling and defense through skill-based drills and scrimmages. Skyhawks puts the Sports in STEM.
Volleyball (Hollow Park, Woodbury, CT)
Ages: 10 to 14 Times: 4:30pm to 6:00pm Dates: August 1 - 4

Skyhawks Volleyball takes the energy and excitement of this great team sport and puts it all together into one fun-filled program. All aspects of the game are taught through drills and exercises that focus on bumping, setting, spiking, hitting and serving. This program is designed for the beginning to intermediate player.
Golf (Middlebury, CT)
Ages: 5 to 8 Times: 9:00am to 12:00pm Dates: June 20 - 24
Fee: $139 for residents, $149 for non-residents.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting, body positioning, etiquette and keeping score. The program is specifically designed for the entry-level player, simplifying instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course. All equipment provided.
Flag Football (Hollow Park, Woodbury, CT)

Experience the excitement of football with Skyhawks Flag Football Fueled by USA Football. Using a curriculum developed by the experts from USA Football, coaches will teach skills like passing, receiving, kicking and flag pulling. Participants will gain confidence and learn important life lessons in a fun, positive environment.
Mini-Hawk (Hollow Park, Woodbury, CT)

This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through exciting games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination and skill development at their own pace.

All these gentle, effective, exercises are performed standing up and at your comfort level. You will also learn the movements of the Yang style short form and its applications.

In this class you will learn a simple, but powerful set of qigong exercises that can help you improve your health, posture, balance, energy level, and lifestyle. These gentle, effective, exercises are performed slowly, standing up, and at your individual comfort level. Class also includes introduction to the Yang style 24 step Tai Chi form.
Tai Chi Form Class: Immediately following the Group Class, 10:15 am (MUST HAVE TAKEN 1 session of the Group Class before participating.) After the first class is over, take your practice to the next level by learning and practicing the movements of the traditional Yang Style 24 step Tai Chi form. This class is designed to help each student to progress at their own speed and includes individualized instruction tailored to each student’s current level.

A muscle toning and endurance class designed to challenge and work the entire body. We will also work on flexibility and balance. Bring a mat, free weights and a water bottle. Modifications will be given, as no one body is the same! All levels welcome! Ages 14 - adult.

Body SCULPT and TONE

A body sculpting class combining functional strength-training exercises to help burn calories, increase flexibility and tone muscles all at once. In addition, there will be balance and stability exercises. This class will focus on adding definition to your physique with higher reps and lower weight.

Disc (Frisbee) Golf
Join us at Woodbury’s own Disc Golf Course (Frisbee Golf) in Orenaug Park!
Park at the Senior Center and start right there at the first tee. Come if you have played, come if you have never played, and Ray will teach you the basics and you can have fun giving one of New England’s fastest growing sports from there. Fun for the whole family, fun for a group to blow off steam after work, just come along and try your hand at this great way to get some exercise and enjoy a walk in the woods at the same time!

Line Dancing for Fitness

Come join the fun! Learn to line dance in a fun, non-judgmental atmosphere. We will do some basic, traditional line dances plus many others will be introduced. We will dance to both country and pop songs! No experience necessary, just a desire to have fun! By the end of the session, you will know 7-10 different dances. End the last 15 minutes with core/mat work. Bring a mat, wear sneakers and comfortable clothes.

Pilates Mat strengthens and lengthens key muscles of the pelvis, ribcage, shoulder girdle, spine, back and abdominals. Golf Lessons
Golf Quest offers group lessons year-round, under the direction of Pete Stankevich, PGA Golf Professional.
Adult Novice, Women Only, and Junior Clinics start at the beginning of each month and meet on the same day and at the same time for each of the 4-one hour sessions. Classes include fundamentals of the set-up, fundamentals of the golf swing, how to play with irons and woods, pitching, bunker play, chipping, putting, rules and etiquette, and much more.
For the first class, students will need a 7 iron and 5 iron. Clubs will be furnished for those who need them. Clubs needed for subsequent classes will be discussed at the end of each session.
Adult Novice
Golf Quest offers Adult Novice classes that consist of 4 one hour sessions covering a wide variety of topics. They are designed for the beginner golfer who has yet to pick up a club, as well as the more seasoned player who is struggling to break 100 and needs to work on different areas of their game. Students may bring their own clubs or we will provide them for you.
Women Only
Golf Quest offers Women Only classes that are designed for the beginner golfer who is interested in learning the game, as well as the more experienced golfer who is looking to take their game to the next level. Classes consist of 4 one-hour sessions on weekday evenings that cover a wide variety of topics. Students may bring their own clubs or we will provide them for you.
Juniors
Golf Quest offers Junior Group Lessons that consist of 4 one hour sessions covering a wide variety of topics. They are designed for the junior golfer (ages 7-14) who has never played before, as well as the more experienced player who wants to learn more about the game and improve their score. Yoga Teacher Training

Peaceful Way Wellness Yoga Teacher Training 200 Hour Level is a Hatha Yoga journey toward wholeness by yoking mind, body, and breath. The training explores yoga postures to prepare the body for consciousness, breathing to cleanse the mind, meditation to connect with your notion of the divine and theoretical, philosophical, and historical content that allows the pathway for inner freedom.
The hybrid (in-person & virtual via Zoom) training meets in-person or live on-line every fourth Sunday of the month and the Wednesday after (live on-line) from September 25, 2022 through August 27, 2023. In addition to the real time training dates, it includes a self-paced mix of virtual pre-recorded videos and on-line training assignments.
Complimentary yoga teacher training information sessions meet in-person or live online each fourth Thursday in June & July at 6:30 pm at The Rec House, 7 Mountain Road, Woodbury, CT.
