Hello Woodbury,
We are well into the Fall season and things are busy as ever at Parks and Recreation. Work has continued on the restroom renovation at Hollow Park, and we are looking forward to that project being completed in the spring. Speaking of Hollow Park, we have our Trunk or Treat event coming up on October 31st from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Our trunkers put a lot of time and effort into their displays and I hope your own trick or treaters will be able to come by and be a part of our Halloween experience.
As we move into November and the weather gets colder and the sun sets earlier, we do have a variety of programs available to help keep you active and engaged. Abby is starting a beginner knitting class for those that are looking to pick up a new hobby. We are hosting a Wood Flower Workshop on Tuesday, November 18th where you will get to take home a forever centerpiece, just in time for Thanksgiving! There are also a number of fitness and wellness classes indoors for those of you trying to escape the cold for your exercise.
This month also brings the start of the holiday season, and we will have a number of fun events lined up for those of you that want to start planning early. We will have our annual Tree Lighting on December 6th, and you will have the opportunity this year to decorate an ornament to be placed on our tree before the event. Starting November 12th, just stop by the Parks and Recreation office, the Library, or the Senior Center to pick up an ornament and then return it to any of our offices by December 3rd to be included on the tree. For our pet owners, we are also having our Holiday Pet Photo Contest again this year. Entries will be accepted on our website beginning on November 14th, with voting and winner’s announced in December.
Lastly, Thanksgiving is coming up at the end of this month, so it’s a time for us to spend time with family and reflect on what we are thankful for in our lives. This year I am thankful for my family, for our staff and all of their hard work, as well as for the town for welcoming me in with open arms. I truly appreciate it, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Graham Musson
