November 2024

From the Parks & Rec Office

Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the Parks & Rec team! Mason James Gore, born October 10th. 8 pounds, 3 ounces. Congratulations to Jimmy, Jami and Peyton on the beautiful addition to your family!

Just like the big box stores, we are already thinking of the holidays. We have some exciting new events planned, so please check them out below.

Our programming continues so you can stay in shape despite holiday feasting and this crazy business of darkness now beginning at 4:00pm. We have a new workshop, hosted by our community partner, Woodbury Hobbies, which will get you started selling on-line. Tricia's one-day Holiday Line Dancing class is incredibly popular so if you're interested in line dancing but not sure if you want to commit, this is an opportunity to try it out while having some festive fun!

See our full line of programs at www.woodburyparksandrec.org.

As always, we are here to assist you in any way we can. Give us a call, send an email or stop by.

Community support is needed to stabilize a section of the streambank that was washed out at Three Rivers Park in one of several recent flooding events. The stabilization plan includes adding two dozen native shrubs along the Pomperaug River, reposting the fallen tree along the bank, smoothing out the vertical slopes, and installing erosion control matting over a conservation seed mix for extra vegetation.

2025 Earth Day Celebration

Woodbury Parks & Recreation is proud to announce we will be hosting the 31st Annual Woodbury Earth Day!

This event is not possible without the help and support of community volunteers. Please consider volunteering for this historic event. It is the largest Earth Day event in Connecticut, and we very much want to keep that momentum going!

If you are interested in joining us, not just on the day of the event, but at our monthly meetings to organize and plan this major event, please email us at woodburyearthdayct@gmail.com.

To our Community Group Friends

We have been overwhelmed with requests to include community events in our newsletter, and while it's wonderful that there is so much going on, it's been making for a rather lengthy newsletter.

Instead of publishing them here, we are happy to post them on our website, under "Community Events". This section of our newsletter will be for municipal events and announcements only.
