As the Holiday season approaches , I am reminded of those who have helped me along the way in journey of life and profession. Clearly I don't get enough opportunity to personally say thank you even though I am thankful everyday for a great staff, students , and parents, thank you for placing your confidence in me as your child principal.

, Kalahari is offering Shaker Heights Schools’ families a discounted rate of
$129/night
(regular rate $199+), which includes water park admission starting after school on
January 17 through 3pm January 18 (
no school that day

Plus, Kalahari will donate $10 per room to Shaker Heights PTO. To make a reservation, call 877-525-2427 and ask for the Shaker Heights PTO Fundraiser Room Block.

as this rate and availability are only guaranteed through then.
Kalahari is an indoor water park resort in Sandusky, Ohio, about a 1 hour and 15-minute drive from Shaker Heights. There are pools and water slides geared toward both older and younger children, arcade games, mini golf, restaurants, spa, hotel rooms, etc. – a fun place for kids and adults, and it will be even more fun with a bunch of Shaker Schools’ families!

could be the answer. You can drop your child off for a ONE HOUR session with a certified teacher. There is no cost. No appointment necessary.
The center is open each week Monday-Thursday from 4:30-7:00.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION – FALL CONTEST!
The Fall contest is ON! It’s time to collect your Box Tops from all your fall cooking and shopping through
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14

.
Participating products will have the Box Tops label (the label is pink and the pencil is yellow) on the package (make sure the expiration date is valid and visible).
Put Box Tops in a sandwich bag or sealed envelope
with your teacher’s name on it
and bring it to school and deposit in the Box Tops box (near the office) by Friday, December 14th.
The top class in each grade collecting the most Box Tops will win a
popsicle party
!

Fernway's Annual Book Fair: November 26-30
Woodbury Students are invited to participate
Keeping with tradition, Fernway will be hosting it's annual Scholastic book fair November 26-30, in the Woodbury Auditorium. Woodbury students will be able to participate as well. Key things to know:

Woodbury
5th and 6th grades will have the opportunity to shop during their assigned times. Each teacher signed up for a slot.
- If you cannot buy in person, you can still shop online at

- And lastly, as with all PTO events, we cannot run them without

Instrument Donations:
The Woodbury Band Department is accepting band instrument donations to help students who are in need of an instrument for the school year. We are hoping for flutes and clarinets as requests have exceeded our inventory. Donations can be made either to Woodbury or taken to Academy Music for appraisal and are tax deductible.

There are presently over 130 Shaker students participating in College Credit Plus. Some take all their classes, a few, or just one class on the college campus, or online. Some take one or more Partnership classes at Shaker, taught by Shaker teachers. A few take both Partnership and on-campus classes.
At some colleges, there is still time to apply to participate in CCP during Spring 2019. If your student is interested in applying for Spring semester, please have them see Gabrielle Perrin, CCP Coordinator in the School Counseling department, or contact at

This special evening sponsored by SHHS PTO is open to all Shaker Schools families, faculty, staff, administrators, students, and Shaker residents. What does Restorative Practices really mean and what does it look like in schools? How can Restorative Practices help create a more positive climate in schools and communities? How is it different from Restorative Justice? Learn about Restorative Practices from an expert.
Graciella Drew, from the International Institute of Restorative Practices, is a consultant to school districts around the country and is excited to bring her 20 years of experience to Shaker Heights! Bring your questions for Ms. Drew. There will be time for Q&A.
