Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have approximately
4 weeks
left in the
first trimester
. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's performance in school, please make sure you email your child's teachers.
Your child should ask his or her teachers if they can turn in any missing assignments. They should also check with the teacher to see if they can redo any of their assessments for additional credit. All of the teachers have communicated their redo policies during curriculum night and in their weekly fliers.
Please make sure you are checking your child's grades in Progress Book on a regular basis. Your child should be checking his or her grades in Progress Book as well.
If you have not yet created your Progress Book account, please contact the Main Office for assistance.
Here is some pertinent information on forming strong study habits.
Q:
My Woodbury student has to spend more time studying this year. How can I make sure they study effectively?
A:
Set your child up for success by finding them a distraction free study spot. Also, have them come up with a study routine. For instance, they could reserve time each evening to review their textbook and notes in the days leading up to an assessment.
Also, many students find it helpful to jot down a purpose each time they study. Your child might write: "I will learn the definitions of all the boldfaced words in chapter 7, section 1."
Finally, encourage your child to experiment with study strategies to find what works best. They could close their eyes and imagine how a word is spelled or draw a grid with squares to review their multiplication or division facts. Or they might find it helpful to spell or recite math facts aloud in rhythm or to a familiar tune.
Thank you for another great week at Woodbury Elementary School !!
Always believe!!

Dear Woodbury Parents
Thanks to your extremely generous donations we raised over
$15,000
for the Woodbury PTO during Woodbury World Records.
We would like to especially thank the event co-chairs Jen Bordeaux and Hannah Mendelsohn and the PE teachers, Ms. Lipovic, Mr. Cross, Ms. Lowe & Mr. Wallin for their hard work planning and executing this event. They did a
fabulous job
making it possible for the kids to meet our fundraising goal, build community, and set new Woodbury World Records. Two lucky classes got the sheer pleasure of sliming Mr. Young.
The money raised goes right back to the Woodbury community to fund PTO events such as Family Fun Night, Kids Night Out, 6
th
grade camp, and Teacher Appreciation Week.
Recently we awarded close to
$3000
in grants to teachers to provide teaching and enrichment tools to all students. The money is being used for math skills books, Latin programming, starting a rock band, sports packs, google mice, computer software, reading materials, Chinese chess and go boards, C-pen readers, art supplies, how to draw books, paint for a Welcome to Woodbury Mural, kick bands, rocks for a rock garden, and more.
Thank you!
Michelle and Randi
