Thank you to the residents that participated in the Environmental and Maintenance Committee Meeting Thursday evening. Here is a recap of the agenda and discussion items addressed by the committee.
Maintenance Team Update:
• Eleven native Redbud trees have been planted, replacing dying dogwoods. Nine of the eleven at the Hull Street entrance and three in the Resource Protection Area (RPA).
• Leaves - cleanup continues throughout Woodlake.
• The team was involved in the prep and take-down for the Fall Festival, and will be doing the same for the December 3 Santa's Market Square Event.
• Two Memorial Bench requests are being executed with a couple more in the pipeline.
• The team installed all of the holiday lights for the season.
• Beachwood Point's Stop-a-While permit has been obtained, and renovations are underway. Next up, the East Wast Stop-a-While will be scheduled for removal. This Stop-a-While will not be replaced.
• The team will be power washing the pool deck at the AFC Friday, December 2.
• Jim Eyerly, Director, Facilities and Grounds, noted that the Community Cleanup ends this weekend. Committee members shared feedback and comments noting that this year's process was outstanding. Having the month-long window worked very well and was well received. Jim added, that over 2000 cubic yards of debris has been collected at the SRC location. Hopefully this will contribute to less debris in the common areas.
Agenda Items Recap:
Planting potted trees from Santa visit. The committee discussed potential locations for the evergreen trees donated to Woodlake from the tree decorating event that is part of the big Santa event December 3.
Shoreline Survey. Work continues on the survey documenting the vegetation and erosion along the reservoir shoreline.
Invasive Plants in Common Areas. This work continues with removal activity taking place in the Walnut Bend and Acorn Ridge neighborhoods. Documentation continues to further monitor plant activity.
Officer Elections for 2023. This agenda item was deferred to the January meeting.
