July 27 Meeting Highlights
Thank you to the residents (both online and in-person) that participated in the Board of Directors Meeting this past Wednesday evening. Here is a recap of agenda actions items addressed by the board.
1. Consideration of Member Survey 2022
The board approved the deployment of the Woodlake Member Survey developed and presented by the Planning Committee. The focus of the survey is to obtain an understanding of the demographic make-up of the Woodlake community. The information gathered from residents and owners participating in the survey will provide valuable knowledge the association can apply to planning, budgeting and programming going forward.
The survey will be mailed in a hard-copy format to all owners and residents so we can get as much participation as possible. There will also be an option to take the survey on-line and it will be very similar to how the annual election process is carried out. Look for the surveys to be arriving in late August.
2. Consideration of Roof Replacement at the WCA Office Building
The board approved the roof replacement for the association office building which will bring it in compliance with community requirements. Buckeye Builders Construction has been awarded the contract and the project will not exceed $6,500 from the Replacement Reserve.
3. Discussion Topic: Security & Vandalism Prevention
Board members and participants discussed a rise in acts of vandalism this year in the community, particularly noting restrooms being an area where increased incidents have taken place.
There were a number of measures presented that would both deter and identify perpetrators with use of technology and police involvement.
The board approved the development of an ad-hoc committee to explore ways to increase awareness of safety and security issues and to present options and actions for the Board to consider.
In addition, tapping into police department resources was presented as an option. It was noted that Chesterfield County offers security consulting at no cost to the community, and there are experts with many years of experience available to offer security and safety assessments to the community.
In conjunction with Chesterfield County’s professionals, it was shared that there could be experts in our neighborhoods that could provide insights and recommendations as advisors to the committee being created.
The board approved a resolution to move forward with the development of the committee and directed that the General Manager seek further engagement with the Chesterfield County Police Department.
