Winter Pine Seedling Damage?
North Carolina Forest Service Technical Resource Bulletin Number TRB-011

An extended winter freeze event occurred from December 27, 2017 through January 9, 2018 across North Carolina. During this time much of the state recorded low temperatures in the teens and several single digit nights. Daytime highs were below or barely above freezing for most of the period. A warm spell followed by a sudden or extreme cold period is the most damaging winter weather situation for southern yellow pine seedlings. CLICK HERE to get a copy of the complete Bulletin.

About My Woods
Video Series is Great for  Woodland Owners  to Share with their Family and Friends

A group of private forest landowners got together with consultants and agency land managers last fall and came up with 7 short videos (under 3 minutes each) called About My Woods (AMW). These really well-done videos are perfect for woodland owners who want to help others understand why owning woodlands matters and the many considerations when you want to do it right. AMW is an effort led by the North East State Foresters Association. For those interested AMW has developed a free app that can run on either Apple or Android phones.
