Have you ordered your seedlings yet?
Now is the time to order seedlings from the NC Forest Service nurseries.

The North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) produces millions of tree and native grass seedlings each year for the land owners to order for local delivery pickup locations, or direct to your address. Among their many essential services, the NCFS has been in the business of producing native seedlings for over 75 years. Whether you want to reforest timberland, improve wildlife habitat or just enjoy the other benefits that trees provide, the NCFS Tree Seedling Store can serve you.

Noteworthy Forestry News and Publications

Fire plays an essential role in the southeastern landscape. Managed carefully, wildland fire increases the health of fire-dependent habitats such as longleaf and shortleaf pine ecosystems, is required for some plants to reproduce, and may decrease wildfire severity. Fire, however, can also be a destructive force on the landscape, threatening lives, property, and the natural environment. The Southeastern U.S. is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. This growth, notably along the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), can create complex wildland fire management challenges. Addressing these challenges requires broad collaboration and innovative solutions from diverse stakeholders. The National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy (Cohesive Fire Strategy) seeks to address these complex challenges.  Read more here .
